floaties in my tank
It appears to look like a snow fall in my tank. Little white things, LOTS floating around tank. Any ideas or suggestions?

Did you dose calcium by any chance?
Or have any over weight looking fish or inverts
my bleny is getting fat, but thats about it. Any suggestions on what it may be?
either your calcium precipitated, or something spawned. Or something else. What is your Ca level?
Ca is at 400
looks alot like a silt. Its very noticable. Not tons of it. Basically looks like dust in the water
Any fish digging in the sand?
How about a shriveled up anemone or coral?

Diagnosis by sumpfinfishe hit the nail on the head. Got a brand new anenome last week. Looked GREAT the decided to move. Well he was hiding amongst the rocks. DEAD. Man this bugs me. Why would I have such a prob like this? It was only a week old. The store said that they had it for 3 years. Is there a life expectany for these? Other then leave it out of my tank LOL
Actually the life expectancy of an Anemone is a very long time in the wild. Unfortunately being taken out of the wild can dramatically shorten the expected lifespan.

You better be doing a few water changes now, one now and another in a week. Sorry to hear that your anemone didn't make it :frown:
Anemones are sensitive and require a real stable and mature tank, not to mention that they don't ship well-hence sensitive. If you have clownfish, I wouldn't worry about getting another, instead you can give your clowns a nice cave or overhang to retreat to or there are lot's of hardy corals out there that clowns will take to as a surrogate host. |
Did a massive water change today. Cleaned out the Fluval 404. Looks good. Got rid of the anenome. Supposedly the store had it for three years. Thats why I cant figure out why it died. Thanks for the help again

I wish I could sound supportive and helpful, but it's not working.
Please: let's stop buying anemones at the LFS. I hate blanket statements usually, but the exceptions to this know who they are. It's not worth the mortality rate, and BTA's split readily enough in the tanks of people who are ready to care for them. There's supply enough, it would seem. |
