Where to buy a pallet of Instant Ocean salt?

Does anyone know when I can purchase an entire pallet of Instant Ocean salt within Canada? Or do I have to go to the U.S for this? Please link me to apropriate place.

deal on salt

I've got 85% of one pail that's near new. You can have it for $25 bucks. If you want it pm me back.

hey thanks for the offer but I am looking for about 50 pails.

I would like to see the tank! LOL

I would contact the sponsors of this site. I am sure they can work as a go between to get you the salt, and the volume you would like.

Willito 08-17-2010 03:41 AM

To maximize the savings, I would rather avoid using a middleman.

+1 to seeing the tank.
I would directly contact the company. Says on the instant ocean site to call

You realize that the sale that Big Als has at christmas for salt.... no retailer can beat. Quality Marine in the states can help you. But really Big Al's sells it close to margin

Didn't even think about this, I would perhaps get in touch with them. I know they put up the "while quantities last" sign, as they need to cut their losses, but you might be able to work something with them too.

Plus calling them direct might work. I know lots of large companies that deal only with retailers will bend if the order is worth it.

Willito 08-17-2010 01:13 PM

Big Al's has a limit of 5 during that boxing day sale.

fencer 08-17-2010 03:50 PM

I'd buy you five pails for a beer:mrgreen:

I think the problem is that you probably won't find it at middleman pricing, as if you can, then can everyone else, and then what is to come of the LFS if we can just bypass them on everything.

Good Luck, personally I would go to someone like Kevin @ Red Coral and explain what you want... If I was him, I would rather make 5% on something after all expenses, than nothing... and then you get what you want.

Give that a try.

There is basically 1 distributor in Canada.

To purchase it from the USA in the East Coast from IO direct would kill any savings you hope to make.

A skid is only 36 pails, and the supplier will not deal with end users. We even have problems getting responses from them at times.

The price that BigAl's charges is at their cost not including shipping. They do that to get people in the door, and take the loss for the shipping.

Kelly and I tried to order a few skids in the past and the prices aren't the greatest.

If you want, and depending on the salt, I can check what it'll cost to get it dropped shipped to Calgary.

BTW, if it's IO, I would recommend the 200gal boxes.

I just recently got my skid of salt in.

wondering why

Jeff_ 08-27-2010 04:38 AM

It takes up less room compared to the buckets and gives 200 gal instead of 160 and I think it costs about the same might be just a little bit more.

You don't pay for the bucket, and get another 40 gallons worth of salt for about $7.

Easier to ship too, most skids hold 36 pails, for just boxes it holds 40 boxes.

ease of sealing a box so the salt doesn't clump up?

Save an old salt pail, empty box into pail, what doesn't fit in will be use fairly quickly.

I know my friend Mike bought several boxes from Ken when he was out there and has had no sealing problems or the such and is very pleased with his purchase.
