Fitted t-shirts or basic t-shirts? Please vote!
So my first run of designs was on Gildans. I previously didn't pay too much attention to makes of t-shirts before getting into this but some certainly just fit and feel nicer.
The Gildan line is generally heavier, fits larger and doesn't have a fitted cut. The material itself though is good quality. Some people prefer this style. On the opposite end of the spectrum you have American Apparel t-shirts. They are lighter, softer and trendy. They don't feel rough and have nicer sleeves etc. They also cost quite a bit more. So my question to everyone is which would you be more inclined to buy? I currently sell for $20. $22 for anything larger than an XL. Here are my options now that I have arranged to buy wholesale and print local: 1) Cheaper shirt that isn't as soft, maybe not as flattering like Gildan? I could sell my shirts for as low as $16 I'm thinking. 2) Somewhere inbetween? Shirts will be around $18 3) American Apparel? You're cool and trendy and look more stylin'. Price would hold at around $20. The ladies will like the American Apparel more without a doubt. |
ROLMAO you will understand why brett it takes a smart one to figure it out .. go with what you want in a shirt. people will buy them for comfort remember.

Oh come on who was that? I KNEW I should have made the poll public.
Seriously though what I want doesn't really matter. I'm trying to understand what my potential buyers want. The designs I'll certainly impose my tastes to some degree though =) |
I like quality, but I know I won't wear anything that isn't at least somewhat fitted.
I personally loath AA for their discriminatory hiring practices, but from past experiences their stuff doesn't last. I find holes start appearing around the 10th wash and they just kind of fall apart after that. |
I's rather pay a little extra for quality myself. If it doens't fit right I won't wear it.

Personally, I look more at the overall quality of the shirt and printing. If it looks like it's going to wear off (printing) or fall apart (low quality shirt) then I'll avoid it.
I fit T-Shirts for size only. IMHO, there's no 'fit' beyond that -it's a T-SHIRT !!! |

So seems evenly split between middle of the road and AA shirt. Middle of the road does not of course mean lower quality than AA. There are shirts that will look the same or close to the same and feel as nice for less money. AA costs the most because it has a certain look and is considered the cool shirt to have. People know the name and the younger crowd wants it. I'm not making any decision yet but I do think that my next design will be on one of the latter two. Thanks guys. |
get some like Frag-It on the shirt with a Coral....

hahaha...what's with the alley??!!
I still think you should have a bumper sticker made with my suggestion...i'd put it on my vehicles! lol |

I voted for the alley cause I thought it be funny but someone already beat me to it.
I'd go with the $20 mark, it's still pretty cheap so might as well make things nicer. Quality is key in a novelty reefer shirt. |
I would go for something better than Gildan
|
I certainly will...It will be between options 2 and 3.
American Apparel is trendy and more money...but I have heard in a few places you pay for that great feel and light weight with reduced durability. Funny thing about fruit of the loom. I've been wearing threadless tees long before they became the powerhouse sellers they are today. All my old tees are fruit of the loom Best 50/50s and these are pretty cheap. They fit and felt amazing and I have some that are 7+ years old and while they are a bit worn I still LOVE them. |
