Flames Fans

Well Flames fans what did you think of the "Free Agent Frenzy"? I can understand Tanguay but Jokinen??? He didn't fit the first time so what makes now different??? I'm kinda shocked and am hoping this is a part of a bigger deal!! :(

burrows14 07-01-2010 11:28 PM

I cant belive they brought him back! I heard that he was a cancer in the room. they should have spent their money elsewhere.

pelle31 07-01-2010 11:36 PM

I wouldn't say he was a cancer......all I ever heard was that he didn't fit in. That happens.
A cancer would be an Avery. I just don't get why they want him back? They wanted him as a passer.....hes a shooter. They wanted him to play with Iggy and that didn't work out so well either. And yea they should have spent that money somewhere else. I thought they would have made a play for Spezza.

Your Canucks on the other hand made some decent moves,I still hate them but they made some smart moves.

Ian 07-02-2010 12:13 AM

WOW i can't believe they took either..Tanguay wanted out when he leftand I don't believ he will be the player he was in round 1 with the flames...and Joke...seriuosly he was a total bust in Calgary last year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even thoeugh ihe is much cheaper still WHY. To me these both smell like desperation.

pelle31 07-02-2010 12:17 AM

Tanguay will surprise you. He had a bad year with Tampa and he has something to prove.
He never really turned sour til Calgary pretty much told him he was going. At least that's what I hope happens.

Ian 07-03-2010 04:58 AM

Honestly I hope Tang does return to his old form...Calgary is in a more hurting way than most would like to admit.I ama die hard Oil fan but I really do see more good in Edmonton right nowthanCalgary....at least we see light whereas the Flames are still looking like they are scrambling to just maintain

pelle31 07-03-2010 01:42 PM

Edmonton is abit better from where they were last year, but
Nowhere near where you think they are. You dropped some dead weight, but still have issues just like Calgary.
Time will tell but on paper Calgary still has a better team thenEdmonton even with Hall.

reefmaster12345 07-03-2010 05:55 PM

they got ollie back because did you see the first game of the season he was crazy with iginla like look at that time when iginla and ollie got a hatrik

torrid_07 07-03-2010 06:05 PM

agreed

i agree ollie belongs with iginla. i always thought ollie played well on the team despite the differences between him and his team mates

Coleus 07-05-2010 08:54 PM

well talk all you want but i don't have much high hope any more. It has been 4 years and Sutter has very much done everything that the Flames Fans wants. Hockey is all about chemistry so just so hard to tell if team will do well or not until they actually play.

Even bring in Kovachulk won't promise Flames going to be a good team. On paper Flames are a good team but they suck on the ice.

Whatever Sutter does right now, I don't think it will improve The Flames until they change their "defensive" play style. It does not work any more with the new NHL

meenamjah 07-05-2010 09:18 PM

sigh...

ponokareefer 07-05-2010 10:28 PM

Calgary is on the verge of becoming the old Leafs. They were never good enough to do anything, but never bad enough to get any good picks, and continually tried to find stop gaps to get to the next level. With Kipper, Regehr and Iginlia now in their declining years, they needed to rethink the whole stop gap scenario. Hopefully for Flames fans, things work out for you, but I highly doubt Jokinen and Tanguay are the answers you'll be looking for.

I never said the Oil are better than the flame at the moment . What I said is I have some hope for them. The oil went through a brutal season . No team could have done well with the injuries that they had, combine that with the fact that they where a mid pack team at best and you get the worst team in the NHL. BUT the oilers have made huge moves toward making the team better, yes they have a long way to go but they are pointed in the right direction now.
To look at the flame what you see is a team that has under achieved every year since the lock out and have got worse in each of those years. They have really done nothing to really get better and time is running out for the core of this team. If a few of the roster players get thier respective heads out ofthier butts and play like they can and do it consistantly they could climb back up but I have seen nothing that would make me believe that this could happen. I really like Iginla and think he is an amazing player but I do question his brain every time he drops the gloves. He is not paid to fight and on a team that was worse offensivly than the OILERS last year every fight he get into puts the teams season 1 broken bone from disaster....this is selfish and not leadership.
I think it will be fun and very frustrating to be a Hockey fan in alberta this fall....

SeaHorse_Fanatic 07-05-2010 11:50 PM

I think the Canucks GM has made some good moves recently and hopefully we've gotten stronger & Chicago has gotten weaker. We'll see come playoff time.

Last year, Calgary was supposed to be the class of the NW division, yet they underachieved big time. On the other hand, who woulda thunk the Yotes & Avalanche would have such stellar seasons with all the rebuilding & chaos they were in the midst of.

I feel sorry for Iggie because he really is one of the classiest guys in hockey and now he's going to have to pull his Flames up if they're going to make any noise this year. Bowie was a complete bust & waaaaaay overrated. They should have learned their lesson about overpaying for Florida players from Jokes, eh.

Anthony

pelle31 07-06-2010 12:06 AM

So J-Bo has one bad year and he's a bust and overrated??

I'm not even gonna get into it about Iggy fighting. He has always fought and thats selfish??
That doesn't even make sense.

Ian 07-06-2010 07:46 PM

YEAH it is selfish...he is not paid to fight. Yes he has always done this but that does not make it the right thing. If he had always snorted coke to get up for games would this be the right thing? The team needs him on the ice and will be far worse with him injured, he needs to learn that his role has evolved and fighting should not be part of it.

pelle31 07-06-2010 08:53 PM

LMAO! Maybe in your little world thats selfish. Whats the difference if he snorted coke to get up for games??? Didn't Fuhr do that??? Maybe you should go back a couple of years ago when he did get hurt(non fight injury)and check the stats, the Flames did quite well without him on the ice. He's just as much a leader off the ice as on. Your points are not valid. He has curbed how much he fights and I'm OK with that. But I'm also OK with him havin a scrap every once in awhile, thats the way he is and he won't change.
