Ogles, worth the money or not?

Curious if this would be worth it, or is there a cheaper alternative |
It looks cool but I would have a tough time justifying $450.

Um wow I thought the forehead prints on my tank glass was as close as you could get... I was wrong.

I didn't think these had a camera adapter? Be funny if the images were in fact taken with a ref macro. I'd say buy a macro, pop it on a tripod and then go exploring. Could cost you twice as much but then you can capture what you see.

i picked up a digital microscope for $60 to observe my roterfers-hooks up to my computer and i can capture images as well as make movies-a lot cheaper alternative

If you could take a piture through it itd be worth it. Otherwise id invest the cash into something that could capture the neat things you would see with that. Just my opinion.

How do you suppose they got their advertising pics ? simulated  Yes it would need to be able to hook up to a camera to be worth while.

I think the pics were are just your standard fare macros but I could be wrong. If $450 wasn't a huge deal to me I'd certainly love to have one of these. Nose to glass is great but sometimes I wanna get closer!

I can certainly see it being possible to take pictures (especially if it 'suctions' on to the tank?)... I take pictures through REAL microscopes all the time with my phone's camera and it does a terrific job, and im doing it free-hand. With a tripod-mounted camera through that scope, im sure one could do those pics through there (Assuming it can zoom in that well)

I thought maybe Greg (Snappy) had one of these? I remember that page from someone saying they had one (or was thinking of picking up). Might be worth asking him if he has one and what he thinks of it.
I dunno, sounds neat, if I run out of things that cost $450 to buy I could consider it. But until then though I've got a long list of other things to work though. |

I got a chance to use one when I was down in Seattle for a reef meeting, Anthony Calfo had purchased one and let me try it. It is pretty awesome, has a very small viewing area but gets right in there. It works better for those corals closer to the glass. I would imagine a SLR with digital lens would simulate pretty much the same thing. Neato but not $450 neato in my opinion.
