GL with that nudibranch. Hypselodoris apolegma, from my understanding is extremely had to keep due to relying on sponges to eat and not just any sponge, a specific species at that. Seems like alot of LFS's have been telling customers that they will eat algae but the rule of thumb with these nudibranchs is to stay away from them due to specific requirements

Imo its sad to see these guys in the hobby because of the high death rate. to me its just a way to make money. even more fussy than harliquin shrimp

Your live rock looks cool. Love how those rocks naturally slope like that. Have fun with the build and keep the pics rolling!

That's a great looking tank you have there! Keep updating so we can see how it progresses.

Nice tank and a good start. You'll want to put that tank on a proper stand in the near future to even out the pressure on your tank.

Last night i got a few new pieces and I spent way too much time re-arranging my rock. Pics will be up shortly.

Looking good. One question though. What did your local fish store tell you to feed your purple sea slug (nudibranch) ?

They told me it ate like a snail...It would eat algae ans micro organisms.

I had a nudibranch also that looked exactly like that and was also told that it ate algae. After doing some research I too found out that they more likely fed on sponges... The LFS stuck to their guns on what they believed it ate, and my nudibranch is currently MIA. He lasted a month or so.

The tank looks very nice btw!!

I picked up one of these guys too, before I did any research first (wrong order of course!). To me, these guys seem like a good impulse buy. It's definitely believable that they do eat algae, but they are in fact carnivores. As somebody mentioned earlier, they thrive on a specific sponge. I did as much reading as I possibly could in the hopes that I WOULDN'T be killing this neat little creature. I know research is supposed to be done first, and it's still sad that they are found in the trade. All we can do is learn and do our part to be educated ourselves.

Ps. You do have a very nice looking tank!
