Bump, looking to sell a few more frags

Bump for this coral it is by far the nicest coral in my tank. Fast grower and in low light the green pop right out  The colour is a little clearer in the corner of the second picture.

I just got a piece of this Red Planet, I was totally sceptical at first, but when I seen it in the bag, and not even in the light of the tank, its gotta be one of the hottest SPS in my tank, well worth the price tag.
The color is crazy. I havent taken any pics yet, but when i do I ll post them. Thanks Laurier |
I have a frag (not from him, but the same ORA), and while the colour of the photo is crappy, when kept in lower light levels (PAR of 250 - 300), it'll develop a nice green base and pink/red corallites with dark polyps:
http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/l...k/P9260040.jpg (Sorry for the crappy photo - crappy camera = crappy photo). If you guys can get this coral, it's definitely super hot! |
here are my pics, since joining the club, its sooo hot.

I had kinda the same problem as Snappy and others, can't explain why, but corals started receeding fast and just plain dying. I had many colonies and most frags just die. Lost about 15 or so, some nice colonies. Basically hundreds to thousands of dollars gone. I couldn't figure out why, even took water to Kevin @ Red Coral and he is scratching is head, as everything was spot on. It came on fast so I can only think of 2 things: 1.) Something in the water (via Calgary water supply) that the RO Filter could not remove. 2.) Lighting - this is a new thought, as my recovery has been slow. Just 2 days ago I posted about this. I am thinking my lighting to be very potent, especially when I keep the lights on for 11 hours. This is the new Hamilton Belize, and maybe much more efficient than the Coralife. It was brought to my attention that too much light can destroy things within the coral itself and cause color loss and RTN. Good article that was posted, look up my thread and you can take a peak. So as of yesterday I now changed my lighting pattern to turn on the actinics at 9am, then at 4pm turn on the MH's for 5 hours, turning off at 9pm, then the actinics turn off at pm. I will see how the corals respond to this. It has been a challenge over the summer, again can't explain why and tried everything, so lighting seems to be the last thing. You know this hobby, sometimes you just don't know. If you have any thoughts, please I am open to any ideas! Rick |
Sorry to hear of those issues man. I think too much light can certainly be detrimental (but not like that!) but there has been a lot of bad luck in Calgary lately I wish we knew why.
Laurier will you accept trades? My daughter is going through her horrible three's but I've got her eating most everything including veggies. Hasn't touched a single coral of mine either. Lemme know. Otherwise I will stockpile some sheckles for the next time you unload this thing! |
brett I pm'd you and rick, just pm me when your ready
so I have all the frags I was willing to sell spoken for. Thanks for all the interest I will bump this thread once the colony has healed and is ready to be fragged again |
dang am I the only SPS collector in town that doesn't own a Red Planet?? I feel so uncool.
|
Kien I have knighted myself the first 'Master of Sticks' and I don't have one. If you'd like to be a member please send me pm.
Thanks for the pm Laurier. When you're ready...I should be ready =) |
