Dimmable T5 Fixtures and Controller

Sfiligoi has now developed dimmable T5 fixtures in multiple wattages. Confirmed are 39w and 54w models and currently only in the Euro voltage ballasts. I expect more info soon into the availability of all wattage fixtures and as well compatibility with North American standards.

Here are some photos:

Hi Tim,

Any idea if this option will be available to add to an existing fixture or does it only come with a new unit? Thanks.

It will only be available as a new fixture. The reason is the dimmable ballasts equipped in the fixture are in the Euro voltage. There will also be a voltage converter installed on the power line which can only be installed at the factory so, unfortunately, this upgrade can not be done by the consumer to their existing fixtures. Sorry

I dont foresee pricing being to extreme. I have personally priced these dimmable ballasts and while they are just over 2-2.5x the price of standard ballasts, there is nothing in the fixture that really differs from a standard T5 fixture. Except maybe for the need to purchase the controller I suppose.

any news?

We will have prices some time within the week. We are working on not only prices but configuration options and creating multiple module sets in order to make these units very affordable to the consumer. There will be options to the end user such as intensity of Led's and RGB version in order to cater to everyone's need. I will advise as soon as I have pricing. Availability will be almost immediate.

Hi,
Are the ballasts available for purchase? Or do you have to purchase the whole fixture?

The ballasts are available to purchase however it is not a simple task of swapping out old ballasts and replacing with the new dimmable ones as there is communication wiring involved and it is not something Sfiligoi, nor any manufacturer would support or recommend any hobbyist doing on their own.

Aquatics Elite 10-26-2010 05:41 AM

Just to clarify, any Sfiligoi T5 fixture produce in dimmable version is built compatible with any of the mentioned aquarium controllers utilizing 0-10v DC interface for dimming. With this, the fixture will only be compatible with that said controller and not be able to communicate with any of the alternative ones. This is a result of each brand controller utilizing different wiring and connector type for dimming with their controller.

We have supplied Aquatics Elite with the GHL ProfiLux EVG-AP-2F interface card, this is unique to ProfiLux and not only allows for plug and play operation but also saves you having to utilise power strip sockets on your controller as the interface employs 0 volt switching, meaning when 0VDC signal line state is detected the interface shuts all AC power off to the lamp.

GHL ProfiLux is also now available through Aquatics Elite so you have a one stop solution for you lighting controller needs.
