Where can i find a lid for
My 35 gallon? It has a light but no lid, maybe speedy glass?
Crystal Glass beside Boyd Autobody usually gives me all my glass for free. Try there
oh thxs lol
Typically reef tanks do not use a glass lid, it lets more light in, facilitates evaporation (for cooling) and provides easier access. Unless you're stocking known jumpers, I would stick with the light only.

ya lol yellow headed jawfish
Use eggcrate!! U can buy it at home depot and Rona.
thxs again lol everyone has helped me sooo much but I dont think im going to get jawfish since they dont go well with seahorses...... :(
I have been using egg crate for about a year and it works very well. Tried glass lids, and my tank heated too much and almost lost everything after 1 day with the glass lid on.
Egg Crate is cheap and holds up VERY well. Even with 2 x 250W Metal Halide lights only inches away, I have yet to see any melting or noticable warpage of it. |
oh ok! well I'll consider getting that first I think im going to see if jawfish can go with the seahorses im getting!
Could an eel pass through egg crate?
Putting a glass lid on a salt water tank greatly inhibits the necessary gas exchange that takes place at the waters surface.
Egg crate or screen is a much better method, with egg crate being the one to allow better air and light access to the tank. |
mk i see now!
