No way. You got that in a shipment? You should clean it off and see if you can figure out how old it is. Maybe it contains some vintage port or something.

Chad 10-27-2003 06:38 PM

Thats really cool, don't see that too often!!

Chad

ghetto

Aquattro 10-27-2003 06:58 PM

This came in to my LFS in a regular shipment of Fiji rock. The bottle is already open, so no vintage port. Sure gonna look cool in the tank though

Nice find there Brad!

Could make a great display piece with a pair of gobies making it home sweet home

cheers, Rich

Nice coralline Brad. I have one thats encrusted also, but not like that.

Stretch 10-27-2003 09:55 PM

Thats awesome, nice to see it still in one piece

psuedo 10-27-2003 11:22 PM

Big als in Burnaby had one almost the same as that a few weeks back. It sat there forever. If you didn't take it, then it will probably still be there

I concur. Guess it's kinda like art, millions to some, junk to others.

This coming from someone with his reef in a kiddie pool...sheesh

kari 10-28-2003 12:44 AM

What do you guys get for deposit out there? I seen one come in before with rope in the rock. Too bad one never gets a piece with gold coins or valuables inside. Do you figure the bottle is old or has value other than looking interesting?

monza 10-28-2003 12:54 AM

I've seen a bottle very simular. It was a modernish coke bottle, really doesn’t take so long to have growth like that. I doubt if it is old but who knows?

At least it wasn't a finding nemo pool or we'd have to shoot you!

Brad that's wicked that you got that bottle. I wonder how old something like that would be?!

Jack, I imagine something could get that encrusted in a year or two in the ocean. There isn't any date stamp, so who knows. I think it's cool though, and will look good front and centre in the tank.

Jack 10-28-2003 02:07 AM

What about detritus down the neck of the bottle, maybe you should cork it?

Maybe I'll just put a powerhead in the bottle. They put sailboats in there, how tough could a PH be??

Haha.

StirCrazy 10-28-2003 01:05 PM

you know.. now that I look at it it would be possable to cut the large end of the bottle off. then we could put a powerhead in there and glue the end back on. we would haveto drill a small intake hole in it but otherwise..

Steve
