It does not look like one to my eye.

I don't think it is a majano. How big is it? Were did you get your live rock from.

each head is the size of a nickel, maybe a tad smaller than a quarter. Green in the center and brown otherwise. They had congregated on a small rock that you see in the pic, but a couple have shown up on two other rocks. The live rock came from another persons setup that I just bought.

looks similar to some large head polyps I have. if you keep them away form other rocks, they wont migrate.

I change my mine, being that small and more showing up I would have said some kind of pest anemone. Also check out this site.http://www.reefs.org/hhfaq/anemones/photoalbum_view

I think maybe i'll treat them as majanos for now...i'd hate for them to be majanos and I do nothing and they take over. For the ones that are on the larger rocks, i'm attempting the shell idea I read earlier...about putting a shell over it and the majano transfers to it and then just throw it away? If that dosen't work, then maybe i'll go find one of those pen torches and burn it off?? lol oh the fun of pest removal! hahaha
Thanks for all the replies!

I put a shell over one of the majanos, zoas, whatever they are things last night...

This morning when I went to check on it, it was gone! I thought, Oh, I wonder if it's in the shell? So I took the shell out and broke it open to make sure...it's not in there either! So it's still in the tank and has the ability to MOVE!!

If they turn out to be majanos you don't need to worry too much they are a lot easier to kill than Aiptasias. One shot of Joe's Juice wipes them out permanently.

It almost looks like a nem I have in my tank (mine is bright green/yellow). I have no idea what mine is (someone suggested a type of rock anemone) but I know for certain is is not a mojano or aptasia and hasn't been a pest yet. I've even started feeding mine and he's growing ino something pretty snazzy (he's VERY flourescent).

If you know is not a zoanthid of some sort and you're not sure what it is yet, just isolated it and keep an eye on it, might be something cool. I'm glad I didn't wipe mine out when I went aptasia and mojano hunting when I first got my rock.
