I scrub it almost every day or 2.

I need to reposition the camera for a better shot.. I used to have 3 different cams running on the tank.. will probably put 1 more on this weekend.

Biotech 10-24-2003 04:09 AM

Neat.
Could you share with us on how to do the live shot?

Quinn 10-24-2003 04:13 AM

Sun Microsystems still offers Java on their website.

sumpfinfishe 10-24-2003 05:54 AM

How much does that cost to run, and how hard is it to setup?

Quinn 10-24-2003 06:01 AM

'Tis easy and free: http://www.java.com/en/index.jsp. I believe MS and Sun finally finished their long-term lawsuit with MS losing. Hence why they don't offer it anymore.

Depending on the ISP they do not want you running live video streams as it can be a big bandwidth resource. For example for every 3 minutes someone is connected to my site they will download about 3.129803 meg of data

I normally do not have it going all the time.. or I password protect it for myself and a few people Since I put it back online (Oct 19th I have had 158 people hit the live web cam) the total is 600meg of transfer, and the camera is only on when the lights are on..

What camera(s) are you using? I have been planing to do the same, but tank is in the next room from the computer. I guess I could get some long USB cables and another hub.

You could look at the X10 wireless Cameras. I have about 5 3Com HomeConnect Cameras kicking around here.. at one point I had all 5 cameras running on the tank in various locations. not sure the maximum length I have seen cables upto 12 or 15 feet. Some say you can get a powered USB help to help extend this My PC is right next to my Tank..
