Flame Hawkfish
My wife saw xtreme's Flame Hawkfish and now she is in the gotta-get-one mode, but I am concerned that it will annihilate our shrimp and snail population. Is it possible to keep this fish without losing shrimp, snails, brittle stars etc., if they are kept well fed?

have had mine 6 months and he only ate one peppermint added into the tank after he was so it was my fault a must have in terms of fish go there great
|
Well i just added a flame hawkfish to my tank. I suppose to have 5 peppermint shrimps but never saw them for some reason. Right now, he leave my coral banded and clean shrimp alone. He is a very cool fish

I think I will have to pass on this fish. 3 different guys at Gold's including Dennis, did not recommend it unless you wanted to get rid of your shrimp and snails.

Snails will be fine. Shrimp will not.
Cool fish. If you ever have a tank you're OK not having shrimp in, I'd do it. I had one in my cube tank. He was about 8 years old when I lost him in a mysterious tank hiccup in the fall. |
uh oh, I will monitor him closely because my wife will kill me if her mated pair coral banded shrimps are gone.
I really like his personal tho, swims way to the top and begging for food when the feeding time comes |
They have a neat personality, kinda like a little pet dog in a tank. Love their eye movement when they lay around observing everything, but ya soft bodied shrimp won't last.

My Flame Hawkfish has never bothered my 4 shrimp.

I've had my Flame hawkfish for over 6 months, my wife wanted it also, calls him DR Phil ( same eyes). During this time I also have 2 cleaner shrimp, 1 fire shrimp, and 1 banded shrimp. They are all considerably bigger than him but he has never bothered them. Go for it! they are characters!

I located one in Calgary for $42.00, but he was a tiny little guy and I decided to pass.

have a flame and speckled hawk, don't bother the coral banded at all, but team up eating snails.
|
my flame hawk taking pellets and he is lovely. Leaving all my shrimps alone so far. Crossing my finger

has anyone had experiences of their hawkfish eating feather dusters or christmas tree worms?
|
My snails and shrimp have been fine with mine had him a year
