Ok, so here it starts.
First 2 are where the tank will sit. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...kLocation1.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...kLocation2.jpg This is the tank sitting in my garage. Was just delivered today (March 16th). Moving all into the basement tonight. Will post more photos of the buils as it goes on. Also will post the "Contents & Equipment" later  http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...ndinGarage.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...rontofTank.jpg |

Chris, had no idea your new tank was going to be this big. |
Aside from 36" deep, what are the dimensions of the tank? Looking forward for more build :-)

Nice dims. You'll love that 36" depth. |
What sizes are the overflow/return holes/bulkheads? I'd like to get a 250gal 5'x3'x2' Marineland DD for my next tank but I'm not sure if their typical overflow system will work for what I want to do.

Don't feel bad, we all make newbie mistakes, but we're all here to help out. |

They shipped the tank on the bottom, as it is the heaviest item, then a sheet of 5/8" Plywood across the top of the tank, then the stand and canopy. all on a big pallet. |

with the dual corner overflows, i am going to use a snapper to return from the sump to the tank, and i have some of the new EVO Hydors, that are controllable by the Profilux, and a few MP40W's. |
Who did you end up buying the tank from?
|
Purchased the tank through Interior Reef

So how are you going to get the forklift in your house to move the darn thing?!?! How heavy is it? My buddy and I moved my 180 to the basement and I thought I was going to die!
|
im gonna guess beer? maybe pizza as well?
after all alcohol is the cause and solution to all lifes problems............ |
Hahah,
The tanks empty weigh is 537lbs. there were 4 of us. Palster, who has a 180G tank and expierence moving them. Jay, who moves large appliances all day long for a job. ( and had the dolly, and blankets requierd) O'niel, just a friend who helped. and myself. We got the tank down to the basment from the garage in about 15 mins. Tank is now 1/8th full. I emptied my entire 125G, rock, fish and corals last night. i had to add 50G of new water as there was bareley enough for all the tangs to swim. Still need to plumb the bottom of the tank. at least with a tank this size, i can crawl right under the tank, into the stand to do it all. haha |
man that tank is big and heavy haha... sooo with that depth what are you leaning towards for lighting.
|
Well, heres some photos of the tanks progress up to full...
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...d/PICT0035.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...d/PICT0037.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y17...d/PICT0041.jpg the underside is still in the works. Currently running a Profilux II Plus controller Sequence Dart for the Return. Coralife 12X UV Steralizer Skimmer is undersized but will work for now. Its a euro reef 135. Comming shortly, Bubble Magus BM220Cs The Precision Marine Skimmer in the photos wont fit under the stand, so I will have to find another use for it. Lighting is also Temporary, as its currently a coralife 3 x 150W HQI with 2 x 96W PCs, and 4 x 39W T5HO Unknown what light i will end up going with. Calcium Reactor is a AquaCare Turbo Chalk Reactor II. Cant think of any other details right now. Will post more as i finish the sump area. |
is this going to be a reef or fowlr tank?
|
Looks like things are on a pause. My return pump shat the bed.
Keeps on shutting off after being on for a few mins, also has hard times starting to spin up. |
So how is this build coming along?
|
Subscribed! I really like the marineland tanks. This one looks like an awesome size. Interested to see the result as so far looks good. Do the marineland tanks this size get pretty pricey?
|
Sorry for the lack of updates.
heres the story. after the pump died, i had to get a replacement asap. got a new snapper, installed and all is flowing. So far the only thing i have done is tidy up the underside. I havent hooked my reactor up yet, as its not quite powerful enough, so therefor, if anyone is interested, I have a AquaCare Turbo Chalk reactor with basi-Tech III Controller, up for sale. ordering a new one once that sells. I am also awaiting my new skimmer, as the euro reef 135 from my old system...... just cant keep up.. hahaha I also need to add some more live rock. By some more, i mean about 200 Lbs. :) I am going to get the rest of the rock from Interior Reef this afternoon. If i dont mess up the water too badly, then i will post some more photos tongiht. otherwise, i will post more once my new skimmer arrives and they call me. :) The Skimmer is going to be a Bubble Magnus 220Cs. also coming in are 4 of the controllable Koralia 8's and controllers for the Profilux. I still havent decided on a light. I was considering the Maristar light from Sunlight supply, as it is very nice and clean, however, it only has 4 39w T5s, which i dont think is enough for a 300G tank. if anyone has any suggestions for lighting, feel free to post, i am looking for lots of ideas. Till later on, Happy Reefing :-) |
Well, I just got the call from interior reef.
My skimmer will be here this afternoon :) I will post photos tonight once i have un packed it :) |
Here are the 3 photos of the skimmer and its unpacking.

Looking good...amazing how little 100lbs of rock appears to be in a 300g tank.
