Oh my god! That is horrible.

Seamazter 03-04-2010 04:48 PM

I know, but being in such a big city it could of been any kid trying to make trouble, or a competitor.

Leah 03-04-2010 04:49 PM

That is so sad. What a crappy thing to do. And even crappier to find.

kien 03-04-2010 04:51 PM

It is bad enough that someone did this.. but if it was a competitor?!? Man, how could you live with yourself or sleep at night..

Seamazter 03-04-2010 04:51 PM

No doubt imagine comming into work in the morning and seeing that.
I know how i feel when i loose one fish...

Seamazter 03-04-2010 05:00 PM

Could possibly be a crazed customer that just couldnt take it anymore.
Or a disgruntled employee.
Or a really good reason not to mix your calcium in a bottle that says bleach on the side.

BC564 03-04-2010 05:01 PM

that is ridiculous and so sick.....I sure hope they catch those responsible....asap...oh..and publish the names.....eh eh eh

Perhaps it was a pool/spa chlorine puck. A couple years back something similar happen in oakville (opposite end of the GTA as Indoor Jungle) with dosing a coral tank with copper (not an accident). Indoor Jungle only opened up last year, never been but its suppose to be massive.

+1

It is a MASSIVE location with quite a few tanks, but the crumby thing was that they were to opening a whole other section of saltwater tank next week,
i suppose that will have to take a back seat

Doubtful that it's a competitor. My guess is "tragic accident" but if it was malicious intent it wouldn't have been a competitor as the overwhelming driving factor for being in the business in the first place is the love of the livestock. If a vendor had it in for another vendor, they wouldn't choose the innocent livestock as the chosen forum.

Very sad no matter what.

bignose 03-04-2010 11:31 PM

Ouch it's hard to imagine this happening to someone. I hope business insurance covers this?

Diana 03-05-2010 12:43 AM

Maybe its some crazed PETA activist gone-off-the-deep-end. Its sad and disheartening.

Its hard to imagine they had all their tanks on one system. And coral tanks plumbed into fish tanks? Kind of weird. Maybe it was some something airborne?

Seamazter 03-05-2010 12:51 AM

all the better reasons to have good security cameras installed i assume.

Abe 03-05-2010 02:59 AM

can someone in toronto area tell me, is that the same place where big al's was. I remember it was there when i used to live there.

SeaHorse_Fanatic 03-05-2010 05:45 AM

Thanks for the links Garry, just playing devils advocate but the news story said that there currently was a large insurance claim taking place, the only person who could actually turn out profiting from this is would be the petstore itself... And in CSI... thats MO (Insert Horatio Caine crouch down, take off sun glasses and say something witty)

Who ever did it that's disgusting, I can only desperately hope that it was an accident.

BlueWorldAquatic 03-05-2010 06:15 PM

Had to be something in the air or cross contamination, as it affected the marine fish, coral, and freshwater fish.

freshwater & marine wouldn't be on the same system, si it was deliberate, also the bleach smell in the back room is suspicious. Maybe a staffer spilled bleach or acid accidently.

That shows the importance of video cameras, I know I installed them for thesafety of my staf & livestockneve know what people might do.

5 month old store too, makes it seem more suspicious, as the low season is about to start.

Just my observatiions.

Ken

Zoaelite 03-05-2010 06:22 PM

Ken its really odd that in the video the guy seems to so positively believe that it was added to one tank which spread to the other systems but like you said that doesn't make any sense. You can't have your fresh and salt systems mix even the newest livefish store employee would know that.

Something smells fishy at this livefish store .

Seamazter 03-05-2010 07:08 PM

the truth will come, im sure, just dieing to find out what it is.
