I was going to ask the same thing. I'm thinking 2 or 3 with 60 or 80 degree optics for my new tank. I almost ordered these before Christmas when they were on sale in the US.

Yeah these lights are super cool! Unfortunately we are not ordering them in large enough numbers to offer any discounts for any orders less than five. With the costs of shipping, exchange, and customs brokerage fees it would not be worth it for us.

The 20K models will not be available until the end of March.

These spotlights are high PAR and can be used as stand alone lighting if enough are used or they can be used to spotlight certain areas of the tank. They will most certainly work for SPS.

wayner 02-26-2010 03:35 AM

So how do you fix them over your tank if you can't mount them in a canopy

LeeR 02-26-2010 04:14 AM

track light

don.ald 02-26-2010 01:21 PM

how long does this type of lighting last? like do you have to change out the bulbs often?

they will be good for SPS, but these lights are good for small nano's not large tanks as they will make a huge spotlight effect of they are not pretty high up. if you are going to have SPS I would get the 40 degree optics also so you can play with the oupt vs hight. the smaller degree optics the higher they will have to be to get even covearge.

would they produce too much heat for a nano tank?

Ephraim 02-26-2010 01:58 PM

this is very exciting!

LEDs don't project heat that is anythign to worry about. the fins on the light disapeat the heat that is why it has to be in a open fixture so air can get at it good.

Are you going to have one hooked up at the shop so we can have a look? Or do you have any pictures of them running?

ScubaSteve 02-26-2010 04:17 PM

I knwo what I'm building next!

Poke around that link a bit and search for the nanocustom lights, they have some good pics.

We will have one on display and in use within the store, we are actually going to be building a nice little Nano in the store to showcase some of the livestock as well as all of the more specialized reef gear we are carrying.

Not bad Andrew, kinda funky.

OceanicCorals-Ian- 02-27-2010 04:18 PM

I have updated the website with a few new items including these bulbs, they will not be in stock for about a week.

Cheers!
