Crap!!! I might be losing my tank to the wine!

Well I don't know who has read my previous post about co2, but now my tank is crashing!

I just got home.. PH is 7.7 where it would usually be 8.2 The flesh on most of my acros looks swollen and some of them are peeling! What should I do??????????? bahhhhhhhhhhh!

Obviouly I am getting the wine out and adding some ph buffer..

smokinreefer 09-26-2003 11:55 PM

real sorry to hear that adam.

but could it be something besides the PH causing the problem?
my PH probably swings that much everyday.

One_Divided 09-27-2003 12:04 AM

nope.. The tank has been the most healthiest it's ever been in the last month or so.. my other tank which just has rock and sand in it is also crashing.. It has dead brisleworms floating around and a layer of goo on the surface. My skimmer is going crazy.

One_Divided 09-27-2003 12:20 AM

also, if my ph is this low at this time of day, it must have been less then 7.5 before the lights came on..

Adam, I'm out of town right now, but I'll call you when I get back to see if there is something I can help with!

smokinreefer 09-27-2003 03:40 AM

oh geez adam.
i wish i was there to help out.
hope you get everything worked out.

pocilipora 09-27-2003 04:19 AM

Maybe add some Kalk to raise the PH and a large water change.Hope it all works out for you.

Doesn't sound good, sorry to hear, I agree with Brad, use a Fan and open the room up as much as possible.

Adam, I will be home tomorrow. I have to move the rest of the stuff from my other house so I can't realy do much but there is room in the pool if you feel you need to move some corals.

thanks for the support guys.. So far it looks like I will lose:

yellow/green stag (small colony grown off a frag from marc)
solid blue acro (frag, rare)
purple/blue stag (large frag)
blue tip acro (large colony I have had for a year and a half)

my huge pink mili and green stag are swelling in areas but it looks like they may recover.

PH is 8.25 where yesterday it was 7.7 at nearly the same time of day.. I am past the PH crash but now my system is full of organics and the water is foggy. Skimmer continues to go nuts. I will be doing a series of water changes over the course of the day.

Wish me luck..

When you've got it back together, I have all of those pieces you lost (i think). Bring some bags over when you're ready.

One_Divided 09-29-2003 05:22 PM

Thanks to everyone for the support. I've gotten things back on track after a couple 5 gallon water changes. The skimmer has calmed down and the corals which were receeding seem to have stopped for now. Only time will tell. The only pieces I lost entirely were frags. All others have at least some tissue left. Wish I could take pics..

Thanks,

-Adam
