I feel your pain, I am 23 and was told to leave a liquor store here in Kelowna when i was buying beer. the guy thought i was 16...

My first BC tidal tank when I was 10 years old (collected the seawater, crabs, mudskippers, clams, mussles, periwinkles, sand dollars etc. locally when the local waters were much cleaner).

Owned my first seahorse when I was 12 years old, back when LFS sold bags of live adult brine shrimp for $1.

My first small fish only (33g) when I was 13.

My first large fish only (110g) when I was 14. I had a Passer King angel, Moorish Idol, Smooth Horn SHARK, Snowflake Moray in a tank with crushed coral gravel over an undergravel filter with 2 HOB & 1 cannister filter. No live rock. No skimmer. No high tech sw equipment at all back in the 80s. Hand fed the fish, especially the shark with smelts, squid, etc.

It might be annoying now but it does work in your favor when you hit your 30's.

very true, now just staying fit and looking good is my goal

but as per the original question, i didn't get into SW till 2 years ago. my dad doesn't support it 100% till i started explaining how not everything is collected wild, hence why i have mostly frags of aquacultured stuff

nouthing wrong with frags after a year or so they all look the same. I think it's good that you are teaching your dad about the hobby and aquaculturing maybe he will help you get into an aquaculturing bissiness!!!!! make some money from the hobby maybe if you get big enough it could pay for your habit. remember to remind him you are not smoking this stuff you are reefing it.... LOL

On the reality side at some point it had to come from the wild as goes for alot of our dimestcated animals such as cats, dogs, cows, horses and so on...
