Jessie55 01-24-2010 01:19 AM

Looks like its missing LR

Chase31 01-24-2010 02:39 AM

okay that's next pay check getting it from dez

Trocar61 01-24-2010 02:55 AM

Are you going to have a background..if so black or blue look sweet. tank looks great keep the pic coming.

Trocar61 01-24-2010 02:58 AM

this is my 35 with the Black background makes everything stick out.

http://i953.photobucket.com/albums/a...f/IMG_2460.jpg

Chase31 01-24-2010 05:17 AM

think ill just take a sheet of black, but not sure yet :p

skabooya 01-27-2010 05:01 PM

Im leaving the back of my tank without a background. I like the clean look of it and i wanted to do something other than black. My other tanks have black.
My walls are painted a light grey so I think it looks cool. :)

Chase31 01-27-2010 05:10 PM

well the "aqua" color you see is a little lighter in the picture so we'll see how i like it of not its not hard to add a background :D

Chase31 01-27-2010 08:08 PM

just took the plunge!! (i think) well couldnt wait, went to AI and got two pounds of rock
(also would like to say so far they've been great! and i have not had any problems at all just amazing service.
(rest of the rock comes next week from Dez :D

my tiny two rocks
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...1/IMG_1405.jpg

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...1/IMG_1406.jpg
I turned this one so it looks a little diff now
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...1/IMG_1407.jpg
I love the red on this one
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...1/IMG_1409.jpg

Chase31 01-27-2010 08:52 PM

Also what do you guys think about leaving the lights on? should i do 12 a day for 8 a day? or would i be okay with having them off?

Chase31 01-27-2010 11:58 PM

was just looking i have tube worms! like 3-4 of them, i really like there little heads, they look like feather dusters, there not bad right?

Chase31 01-30-2010 05:21 AM

well thought i might as well give a small update, getting rock sometime next week (calling and arranging on Monday) the sand is starting to get a red layer almost on it? not sure what this is almost looks like very tiny amount of rusting but i know its not, lots of critters on this rock, all very very small, some tube worms that poke their little fans out witch is cool, are these a form of feather dusters?

kien 01-30-2010 06:18 AM

love the minimalistic approach, very classy! If you really want to make a statement, remove one of the rocks.

The film on your sand is probably diatoms. Pretty standard stuff for a new tank. It will die off as your cycle continues.

Chase31 01-30-2010 06:26 AM

well i guess thats one way of putting it, but more rock coming next week, that one piece was to nice to pass up anyways

You are getting Diatom Blooms I had them on my Biocube and they went away in about a week. Its just the start of your cycle.

Chase31 01-31-2010 02:24 AM

ah did a very small water change (getting more water tuesday) hopfully rocks too
and i stirred up the sand

globaldesigns 01-31-2010 02:51 AM

Personally I would put more LR in the tank, try to create your landscape now or at least get a good start on it. Remember, each time you add LR you will basically throw your system into a cycle, depending on what was on the rock when added it can be minimal to a major cycle. So adding what is needed now, will allow you to cycle the tank, setup the natural filtration process and stabilize things.

Biggest thing is not to rush, in my case I didn't add fish for 2-3 months, allowed the tank to really setup nice. Taking your time will hopefully mean more successful tank.

And have FUN!!!

Chase31 01-31-2010 03:09 AM

yea im getting alot more rock this week and then going to let it cycle
