Website updates

Just so everyone knows, I will be updating the website on a fairly continuous basis now that I am back into the swing of things. You should see some new additions over the next few days to a week.

Thanks for your patience, the website has fallen short of spectacular of the last few months.

Good call. We actually have one but not sure if we are selling it. We may want it for our own display tank. It is a little black one with cool orange spots!

He looks a little like this...........

You really must really love that Anemone you bought from us! We will have some surprises for everyone, I am awaiting some pictures from Paul before I can add any more livestock. We must be pushing 200 frags right now in our farming tank, it is quite jaw dropping to see it in person.

We are just happy we got through a long power outage yesterday that lasted a few hours!!

OceanicCorals-Ian- 11-19-2009 09:08 PM

I have limited pictures still available to me for inventory as we have 100's of frags right now that are healing. I have started to add a few things to the website that I do have pictures of.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Ian

EDIT: Please be sure to hit the refresh button as items are being added sometimes hourly.

We are aiming for the first or second week of December but we have mountains of work to do with limited time and budget, I think it would be pretty safe to say we would be open in time for Christmas.

OceanicCorals-Ian- 11-27-2009 08:14 PM

More inventory will be uploaded to the website throughout the rest of this afternoon. More to come next week too!

We are so busy with the shop that it has been a slow process getting everything uploaded to the website; however, I have managed to get a few items up today. More to go up shortly including some of the beauty frags we have been hiding!

Check back often.

Bad leg? That is not good. Livestock is being loaded now, keep in mind that loading livestock is a somewhat slow process. I will also post the pics here shortly.

Curious what everyone thinks of the website, like? Don't like? I have been working hard on the layout etc. but could use some feedback.

We are also trying to be as descriptive as possible with what you are getting when you order from us.

Open to suggestions if anyone has any!

Thanks, good to know.

Ps. More Corals? We have LOTS more Corals to come! You just wait and see!

Myka 12-14-2009 12:43 AM

Oh I am waiting!! I am excited about my order in the New Year!

Hey I do have a question...I notice on some of your frags it looks like you use fishing line to tie them down. Why do you do that?

Hey I do have a question...I notice on some of your frags it looks like you use fishing line to tie them down. Why do you do that?

We have adopted a practice of using the plugs especially made for use with fishing line. This is not done by many but is far less aggressive than gluing, glue kills all tissue upon contact, the coral then has to grow back over the dried glue.

When frags are tied down using our closely guarded tying secret, they encrust the base much faster and are less traumatized in the process. Once they have encrusted they often absorb the line or you can just cut it.

This is an O.C. exclusive for the lower mainland as far as we know. For the frags that are required to be glued down we use a special cement instead of cyanoacrylate, works much better and does not break loose like glue often does.

Hope that explains it!

Myka 12-18-2009 03:27 AM

I was thinking it has to do with the die-off from gluing. Cool idea! :)
