Frag Meet?

Just wondering when the next Calgary Reef Keepers frag meet is? I know its tougher in winter, but still doable. I'd love to participate now that our tank is up and running without many problems for 2 months.

You can post a message to jay180reef.
He is the founder, otherwise you can check the website and see if they posted the new information after today.
There is nothing there yet.

I think it's probably time to have a frag meet. When would you like to have one? It's best if someone has a frag tank set up for viewing/trading. Any takers? I could set one up, but it would take a couple weeks.

lobsterboy 10-31-2009 02:04 AM

i am down for a meet i missed the last one.

soapy 10-31-2009 02:18 AM

last time everyone posted picture of frags that they were bringing which i think was a great idea since getting everything settled in a frag tank just takes to long.

I have some things that i could chop up (zoa's, birdsnest, aco's)

lobsterboy 10-31-2009 07:17 AM

LorenzO are you going to frag your Red Planet, hehehehe.

nanmer 10-31-2009 03:44 PM

Great idea! I even have stuff to trade!

fragNplug 10-31-2009 04:15 PM

Im in for some more zoas got some biocubes that could use some carpeting.
;p

LOL. ill shoot ya a pm in 6 months, just jokes.

Eb0la11 11-01-2009 06:19 AM

So once you frag a coral, how exactly do you attach it to a disc? I am pretty newbie to this but I could potentially bring some too.

nanmer 11-02-2009 01:26 AM

I was amazed at how easy it is. You use super gel glue and stick it on! You can watch quite a few fragging videos on youtube for detailed instructions.

Jay180reef 11-09-2009 02:47 AM

Yep, and attaching the disc to rock can be done with 2 part epoxy, or sometimes a combination of epoxy and superglue gel is needed.

Eyford01 11-18-2009 06:03 AM

unfortunately i missed the last frag swap but would love to get in on this one if i can, any ideas for a date or location?

lobsterboy 11-18-2009 06:42 AM

yeah, lets get something on the go, beofore the holidays.

Snappy 11-18-2009 06:23 PM

I had been considering having a Coral Master " open house" however if nobody else is offering I would consider hosting a "frag meet" instead although I am just too busy between now & the holidays so if it was at my place it would likely have to be in early January. Let me know your thoughts.

How many sleeping bags can your floor accommodate? I want a spot near the tank since I know you have in-floor heating! I can also bring snacks.

...participating in the spirit of this and for now nothing more. I'm close but not THAT close. Also, I make way too many sleepover-related jokes but I'm working on a gradual exit strategy.

Red Coral is in for sponsorship and door prizes.

:question:What exactly do you mean by gradual exit strategy? Are you planning on running away from home:question:

lastlight 11-18-2009 07:00 PM

Haha. No I'm going to gradually stop making gay sleepover jokes. I'm a married man and its time to grow up =)

thought maybe you were hinting at your eventual exit from the closet..

lastlight 11-18-2009 07:53 PM

Haha. You guys never got the hint with the sleepover jokes so I'm stepping back in.

Snappy 11-29-2009 08:44 PM

Just trying to organize my schedule so I'd like to know if someone else is stepping up to host the frag meet before the holidays or will it be me in Jan? Also if it is me I'd like to gauge what sort of interest there is if it is held in January. Once we have established where & when we should start a new official thread for it. Thanks.

nanmer 11-29-2009 09:27 PM

I vote for later January.

Eb0la11 11-29-2009 10:26 PM

I vote for January too. Not the 9th though.

No... I'm sure it isn't... now when are you going to get me a frag of the red planet ?

January works for me, time to go snip some new zoa and chalice frags.

nanmer 11-30-2009 02:14 AM

I may be willing to host the meet closer to the end of January. I work at Heritage Park and things are nutz right now!

lobsterboy 11-30-2009 07:47 AM

jan is good for me, i have time off during the first two weeks of the month.

leducreef 11-30-2009 08:11 AM

i would come down to calgary if it was a go in jan

fooser 11-30-2009 04:09 PM

Sounds like fun.
If it happens to fall on a day off, I would probably like to come:)

Hey Snappy,
I think January is perfect! Then I will finally get my butt to your place too..Perfect!

I miss the old frag meets in Calgary where anyone could host one. When I lived in Edmonton I drove up just for them, they were so fun. Glad to hear we are going to have a meet again.

Snappy 12-09-2009 10:50 PM

I am away on Jan 16 so it will have to be either Jan 9 or 23. I still need to confirn my scedule but I am leaning towards Jan 9th.

Ross 12-09-2009 11:44 PM

So does one have to belong to the Calgary Reef Keepers inorder to attend?

How do frag meets work?
Bring some along and swap? or buy?
I dont have much interesting to frag, but would like to buy.

Ross anyone interested in coming is welcome to attend. This is not a "club" meeting. There will be lots of frags available for purchasing.

Tagging along. If I decide to come down I would likely be coming on behalf of a few people from out here. It would be nice to have someone new host it rather than the same old location. Come on people, I know there's some monster tank owners in Calgary who want to show off their tanks.

the marine apprentice 12-10-2009 06:07 AM

ill definatly come down for this one as i have never been to one before and think it is a cool idea. im sure there will be a few guys from red deer comming down

Ian 12-10-2009 06:16 AM

assuming it falls at a time I can make it I will be there

lobsterboy 12-10-2009 06:34 AM

i think i will be off on the 9th, yahoo. I missed the last one at Dougs.
