a thread that i don't think has been started yet...
How about pictures of your skimmers lol
I won't start i don't want to take all the bandwidth for my skimmers that I have owned....... lol May be we can start up something like skimmers that are used in different tank sizes so if some one is looking for a skimmer, they can click on a tank size and see what ones that are can be used with thier setups. Like for a FOWLR you want a strong powerful skimmer. a lps tank may be a lighter skimmer. or may be I'm bored and right the heck out of it........ |
Or, Pics of your Home made skimmers and Skimmer Mods. Ya thats it show me your modded skimmers.... :P

ATI Bubblemaster 250 - This skimmer is for my 265 but was in use on my 90 gallon when this pic was taken.. this is close to three weeks of skimmate that collected while on holidays. My tank sitter refuses to touch the skimmer. How about a nasty skimmate picture?: http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/a...n/IMG_2149.jpg http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/a...n/IMG_2150.jpg |

I haven't had any troubles with it. I trimmed the the mesh slightly before it ever saw water. Most people had problems with restarts, I haven't as of yet.. |

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...u/IMG_5921.jpg Oh, and the Tunze in the preceding reply is a 9010. |
Here is a Precision Marine skimmer I had on my 230, then on my 90..
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...h/PICT0004.jpg Here is my DIY one that I had made for my 46Gal Bowfront that I moved onto the 230 http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...h/PICT0012.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...h/PICT0009.jpg And now I have a SWC skimmer #DDWN 250 on my 180Gal.. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...h/DSC_0230.jpg And the collection container after 1 month http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...DSC_0111-1.jpg for scale it is 6" diameter and about 24" tall |
Oooo...what would 1 month worth of skimate smell like? Does it get better with age? Yikes!
Hmm....one month worth for me would be about 6 gallons. |
Thats why I have to carbon in the air filter....that way I don't have to smell it!!
|
OK...here's my new skimmer. It is still a bit of an installation-in-progress...

My stock skimmer broke on my Solana 34G so I bought a Euro-Reef Nano NS2.5-4. It's made especially for the Solana & for those who don't know, they do a whole bunch of Nano skimmers to fit most Nano tanks.
Anyway, I've not yet installed it so pics are pretty much straight out of the box. Just out of the Box - 01 http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/e...PA140009-1.jpg Just out of the Box - 02 http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/e...PA140010-1.jpg Collection Cup, Clamp & Air Pump Silencer. http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/e...PA140011-1.jpg Pump. http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/e...PA140012-1.jpg Clamp. http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/e...PA140013-1.jpg Collection Cup. http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/e...PA140016-1.jpg Assembled. http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/e...PA140015-1.jpg Now let's just hope it works better than the stock skimmer! . |

I haven't taken any of my current skimmer in action, but here are some of my old skimmers:
A DIY spray injection I made: http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1255584475 Here's my DIY beckett skimmer. The beckett goes right through the collection cup. This took a lot of thinking: http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1255584552 And the collection cup: http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1255584628 Here's another DIY spray injection skimmer I made: http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1255584674 Here's a 4' tall skimmer that I was running on my 46 gallon bowfront. It's a beckett that I made: http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1255584732 And lastly, another DIY beckett that I made - the simplest of all the designs: http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/t...g?t=1255584762 |
Here's one of my DIY counter current skimmers when dialed in a LITTLE bit too much.
