Powell River Hardcore Reefers Society meeting Now Sunday November 29th
All right, its that time again. I've invited myself over to PR for a tank tour. They're even ok with it this time
Sundays are best, we just need to pick a date. Sometime in November to give them a chance to organize (besides I'm in Mexico till Oct 24th ). So...whos hardcore enough....to brave the ferry anyways  |

It's OK Marie, I'll organize it. Anyone interested in coming to the BIGGER & BETTER Powell River Hardcore Reefkeeper's Society. Bigger because Dave now has a 750g tank to go along with his 300g reef and 90g seahorse tanks, and better because................Well it just is! Take my word for it. I can pick up anyone from the ferry and get you back to the ferry when you're ready to leave. All we have to do is set a date. There will be a minimum of 3 visits: Dave's large tanks and incredible new fishes; Marie's awesome coral jungle, and my two tanks. (Between the 3 of us we have over 2000 gallons of SW). We can do lunch, have some beers and talk salty stuff. |
Oh, I forgot to mention that those who are interested can PM me and let me know. I will post the date on this thread as soon as possible.
|
Are Lower Mainland people allowed to participate?

Everybody over here is good to go. All we need to do is pick a date. Probably a Sunday is best as most people are off work. I would think early to mid-November would be better as it is not too close to Christmas and weather will possibly be better. So, Nov 1st, 8th, 15th or 22nd. What do you all think?
|
See you all this weekend:biggrin:

I just need to get out of town for a few days to recharge & relax. Used to work & live up in PR for 4 years, so going to visit some friends & check out all the great tanks in the area.
Anthony |
Hey Anthony, glad to hear you're coming up this way. I hope Irene keeps a close eye on your fingers this time.
|
Can somebody please remind me of the ferry schedule? It has been a few years since I made that trip and my recollection is that you spend half the day getting there...have 1 hour...then spend the other half of the day getting back.
Is it really possible to come from the Lower Mainland, see tanks and return in one day? |
It is possible to come up, spend 4 or 5 hours and then head back to vancouver but it does make for a really long day
|
ok I vote November 8th. Any takers?
|
Good by me.
|
November 8th it is! Tickets are going fast.
|
Sounds like a plan. Hopefully it will work out.

Just came back from PR & saw these tanks. Well worth the trip.
Great friends, great reefers & great hospitality. Brad, I would highly recommend that you plan on doing an overnighter rather than a day trip. If you do a day trip, you can catch the first ferry (7:20am) and come back on the last connecting ferry (leave PR 5:25pm). You would end up getting into Pr around 11:40am and back into the Lower Mainland around 9:30pm. This would give you a max. of 4 1/2 hours in town before rushing back to the ferry at Saltery Bay. Better off going up on Saturday and come down mid-afternoon on Sunday. Just a suggestion from someone whose done this commute literally 100s of times since 1997. Anthony |
Anthony, it was good to see you again. Enjoyed your visit.
|
Pop in for a visit if you have time.

Getting closer! :Banane01:

Oh really. That sucks! However, you can come on your own whenever. We're all pretty flexible. |

Would those people coming Sunday (Nov. 8th) please PM me and let me know what time you will be arriving or what ferry you will be on so I know when to pick you up and so I can set the agenda.
We will be visiting Dave's (Mrfish55) new 750g FOWLR with those incredibly large and beautiful fish, as well as his in-wall 300g reef; Marie's splendid SPS dominated 175g, (with the famous Doofus), and her 65g; and my 90g corner reef and 225g reef. We'll also do lunch and/or dinner. :drinking: |
Just to let everyone who is coming know, I will have clippers ready and will make frags to order but I don't have many plastic bags so you might want to bring your own
*edit* oh yeah and don't forget, I do have cooties...I mean red bugs  |
