Fragged my Purple Monster today (Sept. 15/09)
 

Well - after 3 years, frags #2 and #3 were made today of the bad boy illustrated below.

This pic was taken in April of this year, I managed to get a bit of growth spurt since April hence making a couple frags. I will make at least one frag available to canreef members, hopefully in about 2 weeks after the frags have adequately healed. Stay tuned - cheers.

Those are going to be some most wicked frags I have seen. I have seen alot of corals in the past 20 years and you know that maybe one of the best yet. It makes the top 5 for sure. What ever you sell it for it will be worth it..

Thanks all. And ya, this is a sweet coral, I grew it out from a 1/2" size frag. This will make all your other purples look.......well either light purple or blue. Its so purple it is almost black.

Thanks for all the PM's and emails, but to try and be fair I think I will make this available by auction with a couple other wicked pieces.

I plan on starting the auction on this one next Thursday perhaps, so this piece has at least 2 weeks time to heal.

Colour speaks to me more than lineage.

I should just work at your local UPS or something and just intercept all your outgoing shipments. Would be easier than trying to outbid folks :D

This one has some strong colour, well if purple is your think. Glad to see some Ontario folks posting. Rather than workin' on the UPS guy, if you ever make it to the Oakville area just let me know. Basement is almost finished!

i thought the different names meant different actual corals. lineage means NOTHING to me. that thing is hella nice.

There's definitely more than one of each of the "named" corals - since most corals aren't really unique specimens, just uncommon, it's not unusual to find a wild colony coming in looking exactly like a LE/Tyree/ORA/whatever coral.

Technically there is only one "Tyree Purple Monster", but it's definitely not a uniquely coloured specimen - there have been many others looking like it (or better!)
