Lower mainland gas prices
Ok, I am going on holladays next week and i was wondering what gas prices are between the ferry and hope so I know how much to fill the tank to get me to cheep gas
So it would be aqpreaceated if people could post average gas prices and which area please. Steve |
I just drove from Chillawack to Ladner today. Cheapest gas was at hyw 11 in Abbotsford 66.7. I drove along Hyw 10 and the prices jumped to 77.5 in Langley then back to about 76.3 near the ferry.
Hope this helps Jason |
Go to Point Roberts, Washington - it's the equivalent of .56 a liter.
|
on the corner of Fraser Hwy and 264th gas is 68.9. The price will say 72.4 but you get 3.5 cents off the listed price when you are at the pump.
No matter what we pay it is too much. the price per gallon is ~ $30 and out dollar has risen almost 20% over the past 4 months. Blood gas companies are using the Iraq war to inflate the price then we get used to it. They said for us to expect 99.9 but i say crock. If it gets that high then I will go accross the line to get my gas. |

Take #10 until you get in Langley, then take Frser Hwy out all the way. there are 3 gas stations. Shell, Chevron and ?????.
After gas keep taking the road all the way to #1 and you are in Abbotsford. Sometimes there is a gas station about 5 km further down the road from the Chevron and they usually are cheaper even still. They should be mid 0.66. I always use my Chevron card so I need to go to Chevron for gas. HTH P |
Point Roberts is about 5 minutes from the ferry. You can't miss the signs. I believe it's the first traffic light you come to... you turn right and head south.
Noel |
Right at the Second traffic light.
Border line up has been about 15minutes lately, but worth the savings. Lets all the ferry traffic pass you by. Wendell PS Make sure everyone has ID to cross the border. |
I stand corrected, the second light.

If gas prices were to reflect environmental costs (and the cost were diverted properly) the cost of a litre of gas would be ~$1.20/L according to a writer in Autobon. Having said that, am I the only one blown away that our government can't prove collusion between the oil comapnies considering that among others; prices jump right before the weekend all year round and prices jump in the summer when everyone is travelling?
|
Are you sure it's "can't prove"? or is it that they just don't want to confirm the fact?
Noel |
That was my point. IMO, collusion is so obvious it's ridiculous that the gov't found no indication or evidence that it exsisted.
|
what about the fact that our dollar has gained alomst 12% so gas should be lower, not by 12% but there is a factor there.

i hvae done a little research and here are some interesting facts.
Price per barrell of oil today is 30.68 Price in 1982 was $38.00 http://www.eia.doe.gov/emeu/cabs/chron.html Price of Gas in 1999 in Vanacouver was 62.9 With out tax price was 33.8 I would like someone to tell me how our gas price today can be higher that early 1980 (OK I admit I am reaching here as I cannot find any website to indicate prices back in 1982). Our Dollar is strong price per gallon is lower, also if you take into account that the price is per barrel and I am not sure of how many litres you can get out of a barrell. Anyone??? Also here is an interesting link to other prices for items in the States based upon price per gallon. http://www.omegamotors.com/enjoy/gas...soline_03.html I hate it when we are being ripped. They prime us up with talk about prices reachin 1.00 per litre so when prices only reach 84.9 we are happy and don't complain. Next year it will be 94.9 then the following year it will be 1.00. Just wait and see. |

What's worse is the fact that in counties where gas prices are really high (UK and Ireland come to mind - I have relatives who pay the equivalent of $2 per liter), their engine performance is much better than ours, i.e they get at least 1.5 times the "miles per gallon" that we get... and these cars are built by Ford, GM, etc. Why is that?
No collusion here, eh? Noel |
Ours just went from 68.4 to 71.9. DUH? Wonder if its to do with the long weekend traffic.
|
66.9 to 79.5 in a Day.
|
I,m gonna trade my new Ford pick-me-up, on a Jetta wagon diesel.
|
Noel
What models are you talking about ? I have driven a few cars in europe and fuel economy is no better then here.......gas is just double the price. Wendell |
From what I've been able to tell, cars are also more expensive over there, as is licensing and insurance. I think this is a result of their generally "green" attitude.
