either that or very, very old.

They probably originated from an Australian hobbyist who collected them legally in 2006. I remember reading about his attempt but I can't find the URL at the moment.

I bet these are offspring from one of the US companies. I think Drs Forester and Smith maybe were breeding a pair of offspring that they got from the Australian pair.

Yup. Some breeder in Australia kept pestering until he was allowed to go collect a few. He bred them first and sold some to Drs. Foster & Smith; they bred them too and were selling them. I believe the majority ended up in Japan. Drs. Foster and Smith are the most likely source for the one in question.

...all that and a decent looking ocellaris too. :P

The guy who originally collected these on the MOFIB forum. It was amazingly detailed from the process he had to go through to get permission, the hostility he got from locals when he arrived and to the journal of the actual collection and breeding setups.

I guess to a collector anything can be golden but I honestly can't understand the appeal. Just looks like a black and white clownfish to me. Man I'm such a cheapskate fuddle-duddle. :lol:

Now if I can just find some black paint that'll stick to my Tomato Clown I'll be able to afford a skimmer that actually works! :lol:

Nope, these are not from US but from Australia.

I don't think I would pay that much money for used fish.

Goodness...we wouldn't want that to happen! Captive Breeding might bring the price down.
