Mark's 145g mixed reef

Was content with the 75g I started this hobby with, but wife knew I wanted bigger and a basement sump. When she decided time for a different house she kept selling me on the show homes by saying how nice a new built in tank would look and I eventually fell for it.

Decided would have a 145g room divider style, basement sump and CL directly below.

Had the tank ordered around the time they started digging the basement and considering I got it from BVA, was a good thing as they there were both ready around the same time.

I like the tape "Janet, if the water is here might need fill but don't go above tape!"

I've done that to all the tanks around the house, just incase whomever is house sitting doesn't know

Man there is a keeper...my g/f kept saying aw....youll have to put the tank in the back room/ basement/ out on the deck.

:pound: BVA when it absolutely, positively, has to get done......sometime.

Tank and set up look killer man. Congrats.

How'd I miss this? Gorgeous reef and love the tank's integration into your home.

Do you still have that massive sps colony?

mark 01-08-2012 06:39 PM

Tank's still going but no longer SPS but not by choice. Couple of years back lost all the SPS followed by a bryopsis outbreak from hell, really took away the motivation. Tried a SPS frag about a year back and with it dying right away figured just stay with the softies since they kept going. Still have the SPS itch though and since feel the die off was due to allelopathy have removed all of the Kenya Tree and slowly starting on the Ricordea. Think a couple of of months from now I'll be on the frag hunt.

You're in the right place for that! Edmonton and Calgary have it pretty dang good. My extremely belated 'sorry' for the sps crash. Hopefully you can get back to it... I love the sticks!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who takes a pic of the now empty tank. It's sad isn't it. :(
