LF Barracuda

I know it's a long shot, but anyone have a barracuda or even snapper return pump they're willing to part with?

Leah 04-23-2009 06:31 PM

Phewww!!!!!

Ron99 04-23-2009 06:41 PM

Actually saw barracuda for sale at Big Al's in Richmond recently

Rbacchiega 04-23-2009 06:42 PM

Herm.

I might be better off ordering one, but I figured I'd try here first... got lots of water to move!

Rbacchiega 04-23-2009 08:22 PM

found one.

Dolf 04-24-2009 12:56 AM

Really? found one used? Does the person have two? (I need to run three surges...) I had not even thought of posting to see if I could find one used and had almost resigned myself to ordering new. Well, now that you found one can I take over your thread? ;)

Rbacchiega 04-24-2009 01:33 AM

didn't find one used, but Kevin is ordering one for me. You should give him a call and see if you can get in on the order....I think he said it should be in in about a week or so....

I got an excellent condition sequence dart for sale if you guys are interested.

Rbacchiega 04-24-2009 04:09 AM

Thanks for the offer, but I'm affraid a dart won't have enough "Umph" for what I'll need it for....but maybe Dolf could use it?

You're turning down the Dart as not enough but were considering a Snapper?

Rbacchiega 04-24-2009 04:43 AM

when I wrote snapper I meant dart, if that makes any sense...long day. But I've got a barracuda on order now, so no worries there. I need to pump water from the sump, through a T leading to the display (through a wall) and up around 7 feet to frag tanks...

woooooo

AndyL 04-24-2009 05:13 AM

Want a backup pump? :) Just in case...

I've still got a Little Giant TE-7-MD (3200gph - 1300 @ 50' of head  ) specs sitting in the basement

Rbacchiega 04-24-2009 06:00 AM

how much Andy?

untamed 04-24-2009 07:53 PM

Ha..ha... Oh, you are looking for a pump. I just jumped on because I saw 2" barracudas for sale at Big Al's in Richmond the other day for about $30ea. Cute little guys...but I would be very interested to see the tank of the person who wants to keep a barracuda over the long term.

Geez, even I wouldn't do that.

I think these fish have an undeserved reputation, but still....it is going to grow up to be....what...4-5 feet long, high speed predator?

Rbacchiega 04-24-2009 09:42 PM

real baracudas? Or freshwater ones? Either way...rad RAD fish

Ron99 04-24-2009 10:13 PM

Real saltwater ones. I saw them too and was pretty unimpressed. I don't think this is the kind of fish that should be sold to anyone except a very select few with supersized tanks.

FlamesFan 04-25-2009 07:29 PM

damn im curious what your doing with a baracuda pump on a 90g (if thats where it's being used). I have a snapper on my 90g and it's clocked way back to maybe 30% in two return lines.

how much for the dart? whats the output

Rbacchiega 04-25-2009 11:08 PM

I'll be using a barracuda on a 50 gallon :D
But it's also got to pump water up about 7 feet into two separate frag systems as well as through the wall to the display tank where it will be split in two. NOOOOOOO powerheads going in this beast.

I've got 89X the turnover in my 90 gallon which is a mixed reef. The 50 gallon will be all higher end SPS and a pimped out system

8000+ gallons an hour?

Rbacchiega 04-26-2009 04:11 PM

actually it's closer to 82x...my mistake. And that's only when the Vortech mp40 is running full blast, which isn't very often. I'd still estimate anywhere between 75-80X tank volume is moving around in there... There's a guy on RC with 120 something times the rotation...!

Koralia 4: 1200gph
3x Koralia 3: 2550gph
Sedra Return (4.5ft head): 625gph
Vortch mp40 (if run full blast) 3000gph
