Marlin's cubes (Few new shots nov 2010)

Thought I would share a few pictures of my new tank it's a 3' x 3' x 14" 1/2" tempered tank. I'm running a dart for the return and have it plumbed into a 35 gallon refugium and a 25 gallon sump. Still have to hook up my Becket skimmer and chiller. Just running a ramora pro for the time being.

Nice setup, did you drill the sump yourself? What size are those holes?
Thanks

All the holes were drilled before they tempered the glass. There is four one and a half inch holes, and one three inch hole for the return. This is my fourth tank that I put together. getting better with each one.

Hooked up my chiller but it does not work.
Anyone know someone that will recharge them? It's one of the old type with the Freon compressor.

spoot 04-22-2009 06:32 AM

I don't think you can use freon anymore, but AC repairs guys should be able to use another refrigerant.

Try an Auto Radiator and Air conditioning Repair shop.

Thanks guys.
I took it out (thanks for unions) The temp sensor and fan all work it just does not get cold. I found a place around the corner from me and will see what they have to say about it.
It is one of the old Aquanetics chillers, but should work great if i can get it running.

mmmmmmmm cube tank.

Looks great. Are you planning on keeping the minimal rock work in the tank? I'm starting to really like the way they look

Marlin65 04-29-2009 03:49 AM

My new guy I call him Speedy is doing really well and has adjusted well.

Not sure I plan to merge two other tanks and change some things so not sure what will happen.

GreenSpottedPuffer 04-29-2009 05:10 AM

Looking great!

I bet you could use more fish though...Hmmmm...maybe a Coral Rabbit??

Actually I saw one for sale in the buy/sell area

Quick update tank is doing well ended up with some flat worms and some zoa eating nudies. Trying the natural way to eliminate the flat worms with this guy.

I've tried those head shield slugs before and they will only bring the flatworm numbers down not get rid of them entirely. Once you have only a few left and the slug starts to starve it might work best to pass it on to someone else and then treat your tank with flatworm exit. I've had a good experience with a yellow coris wrasse as well. Once my sea slug couldnt find any of the remaining flatworms the wrasse took care of what was left.

Marlin65 07-15-2009 08:07 PM

Yeah I know I got him to bring them down a bit as I had lots. He has tripled in size eating as many as he can find, and I have someone lined up ones he starts running out to take him.
I also have a coris wrasse and he has been eating them as well so he should finish off the left over stragglers.

scherzo 07-15-2009 11:00 PM

Looks great! You have me thinking about cubes...

What type of MH do you have over it? Is that a 400W?

whatcaneyedo 07-16-2009 12:12 AM

Its kind of too bad that those sea slugs eat up flatworms so fast. I would have enjoyed being able to watch mine longer. Anyways, hope those two do the trick for you and you dont have to worry about flatworms anymore.

Marlin65 07-18-2009 02:27 AM

Got my beckett skimmer running with my 1200gal GenX pump. So far I am pretty happy with the performance.

I sure enjoyed mine as well so colerful at least I have a few nice pictures of him. Looks like he might need to go soon. It looks like I am down to a few big patches for him to thin out.

Triggz 12-30-2009 04:35 AM

ahhhh these cube tanks are killing me! Really nice job man.... Did you use anything to secure the liverock when aquascaping?

lastlight 12-30-2009 05:59 AM

Love that new pic the colour temp looks awesome to me. Of course with screens all being different etc I suppose it will look diff to everyone.

Do you have any T5 running with that phoenix?

Can you show more details of your OM closed loop? I would think a Dart would be way too much for that cube!

I used epoxy to hold most of the rocks together and the ones on the back wall are siliconed on.

The Starphire glass makes a big difference I think and I am running two 24" T5 actinic's as well. I have that dart running on an ocean motion 4 way its a lot of flow no LPS for me in this tank. I almost killed some and some of my SPS had to do some adjusting. My Zoe's love the flow though have them almost right up to the outlets.
Picture of my 4 way the dart is under that and all 5 holes are in the BTM of the tank.
