Help! Sick Fish?

I have a blue throat trigger that is not doing well. Have had this fish for 2 weeks and yesterday it never came out to play. This morning at lights on I managed to snap some pics of this him. He looks to be in rough shape but I dont know what is wrong if anything. Does anyone recognize anything? Looks like fin rot. Any help would be great

Thanks
Cam

Looks beat up to me. Who is this fish living with?

loveless 04-16-2009 06:27 PM

1 hippo tang
1 yellow tang
a pair of clarki's
6 chromis
a mandarin
1 female blue thoat trigger
1 Copper band butterfly
1 copper banded shrimp
2 cleaner shrimp
1 pepermint shrimp

No agression has been noticed, and they are all in a 180gal

I don't have enough experience to know what is wrong with your fish, but after he is better, when you have time, suck up those unwanted bubble algae.

So you have to triggers?

Is the female beating on your male?

loveless 04-16-2009 11:48 PM

No, I got them at the same time and they usually hang out together. The female is in good shape but the male only swims around with his pectoral fins while the female swims with all of her fins. Could ich be the cause of this? I have noticed some questionable spots on him but nothing crazy.

Thanks for your replies

How large is your Hippo Tang in relation to the trigger?

loveless 04-17-2009 01:00 AM

The hippo is 2.5 inches the trigger is 4.

Could be flukes...

I agree with the "beat up" theory. The lady may have had to show him whos boss?

+1 on beat up. Can't see any obvious disease or parasites

And you guys just never listen and do what you are told...:lol:

I have been trying to see if there are any agressions toward this fish but the only thing I can see are the hippo being a little bit pushy but nothing like tearing fins off. Maybe a little body posture and the like. No one is being chased and all seem very peaceful towards each other.

Well just an update for everyone. I waited all day with nothing happening until tonight when I witnessed the regal tang nipping at the triggers anal fin, then go over to the female and try to attack her. The little bastard is coming out.

Thanks to all for their replies
