Nevermind :)

Not sure why I posted this...

karazy 04-09-2009 08:28 PM

the only problem i see with it is wastes in the bagged water from the coral.

+1

better to put them in his tank till you get there.

GreenSpottedPuffer 04-09-2009 08:42 PM

Ok.

I have had stuff shipped over a few days before instead of overnight. I never worried about the minimal waste a few small frags will make.

May as well get him to take them out I guess. I just think its more stressful for them to be in three different tanks over two days.

EDIT: I have never had a problem in the past...not sure why I was even asking :)

Rbacchiega 04-09-2009 10:58 PM

sure is confusing to read
"Nevermind"

"the only problem i see with it is wastes in the bagged water from the coral"

whaaaaaaaaaaa?

I thought it was great. :) I was trying to come up with something equally obtuse to reply with.

Oops, I mean, but did Purolator not send you a tracking #? That's where I'd start with this.

No I have some frags coming. My friend is picking them up today after they were sent out overnight. I can't get them from him until tomorrow morning at 9am. So they will be in bags for about 48hours. Floating in his tank of course for about 12 hours.

I was asking about possibly problems but then I realized I used to get stuff shipped in the US from Live Aquaria over 2 days and never had a problem. That was usually from the Carolinas to Miami.

Waste in the bags in not really a concern for frags IME. Actually not even really with colonies in the past. Its just two days. Long as they stay warm, I have never had a problem.

So I changed it to 'nevermind' since I don't really have anything to ask.

Delphinus 04-10-2009 12:54 AM

aw nuts, I tried to come up with something totally random and unrelated and it turns out it wasn't completely off the mark since the original post had something to do with shipping.

Skimmerking 04-10-2009 01:01 AM

wow 2 days i guess wouldn't you get some kind of gas exchange in the bag, where the water is staying warm, and usually when water slowly coolsoff the PH will drop some causing the water @%T$# T%Y$^T #

AH NEVERMIND

Sorry Tony...

Actually what I was really asking is whether its ok to keep my corals in individual bags instead of my tank because I find it easier to look at them. I figured it should be fine as long as I shake them up once a day for flow and only keep one fish per bag. Plus obviously I would put my Sailfin in the biggest bag. I guess some thought the waste would build up in the bags but I think it should be fine. Whats the difference between keeping them in bags on the way home from the LFS and keeping them in bags indefinitely?

I know...no real difference huh?

Oh look, Im late for the Canucks game, I better leave bagging my corals until after. Gotta go...last game of the year, don't wanna be late. Especially since I have been late to pretty much every game this year because I ramble on Canreef before I leave!

Thanks, now it makes sense.

That's funny that you were trying to be unrelated and instead ended up making sense.

Just remember to double bag the sailfin, they are really good at slicing through bags.

Yeah I should have taken my Sailfin to the game...darn. Maybe he can come for the playoffs

I wonder how much beer he can drink?!? I bet he can drink like a fish!

The only thing I worry about is how he will handle the noise.

marie 04-10-2009 03:13 PM

This might be better then a plastic bag if you want to take your sailfin to the game

Super!

Where can I get a few of those? Do they have a smaller size though? Its kind of big for just the Sailfin.

I'm sure the corals would be fine. However I think the sailfin would produce alotta waste and ammonia would buildup. A couple drops of amquel in the bag should reduce the risk.

Nah I think he should be fine. I don't feed him. Not much waste.

Well with the Flames loss tonight its looking more and more like the Sailfins first hockey game will be sooner than later since the Canucks now have a good shot at home ice for the playoffs...so I will snap some pics of him at game 1 ;)

I wonder if he would prefer a darker beer? He kind of seems like a Guinness type but the problem with that is it will really cloud up his bag :( I guess I will stick with a lighter beer so he can still see the game.

lobsterboy 04-11-2009 04:47 AM

i thought he would be more a red wine kinda guy or girl.

so i was doing alot of internet research and came up to this. its similar to watts per gallon.
i am going to go out and buy 13 mag float and place them on the front of my aquarium, well just 12 at first, the other one i will cut in half, this way i will have 1 mag float per 10 gallons, and i am going to leave them there as it will be way easier to clean the front panel.
it looks like alot of people are doing this already and with great results.
i cant wait to get those in the tank.

Justin your tank would look awesome with 20 mag floats on the front on the glass. I am going to do a checker board pattern

He is a boy for sure, I can tell by his eyes. He doesn't even have eyelashes. My naso is a boy too even though he wears lip stick ;)

Hmmm...interesting. I never thought of Red wine.

Maybe I can just get one Mag float and put it in the Sailfins bag. Im not so into the tank anymore now that I realized I can keep fish and coral in bags instead :D

you should get some egg crate and put that into the bag too, that way you can sell frags to people on the street even if they dont have a tank.
i am sure the frag would be ok in there pocket till they got home.
and if the frag drys out the can rehydrate it in some fresh water, there will be more than enough dry salt on the frag
