I just have to celebrate....

I finally got rid of the PC fixtures over my reef! My corals are now the proud owners of a 8 bulb HO T5 TEK light!

How nerdy I am to be so excited :D. At least it doubles as a tanning bed.

Nah, not nerdy to us. Does that make us all nerds cuz we know the excitement you have? lol

Congrats!! Did you really notice a difference going from PC to T5HO?

rstar 04-03-2009 05:47 PM

hmmmmmm i think pictures would do this thread a great justice

Awesome!!! I agree, we need pics!

They are excellent lights, you will love them... good for you.

fishoholic 04-03-2009 07:17 PM

That's great  You should notice a big difference.

Diana 04-04-2009 01:01 AM

The difference is AMAZING. I love it, and I think my corals are already wayyy nicer. I have the actinics (4 bulbs) on for 10 hours and the whites (4 bulbs) on for 3 hours.... and the fixture is sitting pretty high off the tank. In a week or so I will probebly lower it down.

I will snap some pics tonight... :D yaya

Oookie here are a few pictures. Keep in mind my corals have been browning out under PC's for years, so they will take a while to color up!

Yes! Much better.

i have crabs 04-04-2009 02:57 AM

i would run them up how you have them for a few months then drop them halfway then all the way down a few months after that, with my par meter thier was no difference in bulb output after 2 months so im gonna probably wait 4-6 months before droping it down, trust me even all the way up you get alot of light, when i had it close to the bottom of the legs the temp did raise a couple degrees in the day so i dont mind having it up a bit anyway

love your tank my dear, havent seen you on here in a long time. love your aquascape too.

Diana 04-04-2009 04:34 AM

Sweet, good to know. I can forsee heat issues in the summer, our living room gets sun all day long. It just looks funny to me being up so high off the tank :P. If I can run it half way up during the summer I will be happy.
