Very nice, how big is he? he looks huge in the pic, but am assuming he's probably not. Thanks for sharing the pics.

Key Equine 03-15-2009 10:57 PM

He's about six inches long...

Leah 03-15-2009 10:58 PM

Ahh! Nice picture's. Your tank is set up soooo perfect. Love the post's you have for him.

Food

Great healthy looking sea horses, if I can give you two tips:
1. Macro algea (fantastic pod supply and works well for water parameters)
2. Gorgonia if you can get them (Great for resting and add some color to the tank)
Good luck though!

Aw... a herd of one... Good to see he found one of his intended hitching posts. Have you talked to Kevin recently???

Key Equine 03-16-2009 12:36 AM

No I haven't talked to Kevin recently, why's that?

Oh, and exciting news, he won't be a herd of one for long, I have ordered two females to keep him company! Woohoo!

Carmen 03-16-2009 01:08 AM

EXCELLENT Claire! He looks so great! So happy he has adjusted well. Looks so happy in his new home! If you are wanting some Red Macro Algae let me know, I have some you could have for free! Great to add some color and they love to snoop around the macro looking for pods and such.
The tank looks great! Very exciting about the new additions! I am sure he will love his new tank mates.

Key Equine 03-16-2009 01:13 AM

Yes! I would be interested in the Red Macro Algae! I have just been reading up a bit on it. Whereabouts in the city are you?

Carmen 03-16-2009 01:22 AM

pm'd you about the macro

traco 03-16-2009 03:14 PM

Claire, he looks so regal. Keep the pics coming, especially when you get the 2 females in there.

Diana 03-16-2009 04:41 PM

Looks great! Lots of hitching spots. I agree adding some macro algae would be fantastic! I have so much of it... but it has planaria... and I wouldn't want to wish that on anyone! :D

Awesome looking horse you got there! Is he eating well?

I vote against the macro in the display tank as it'll take over and just cause problems. If he's eating frozen food you don't need a crazy pod population. I only feed my seahorse once a day and he's been doing great for over 8 months now. I also haven't had and problems with LPS corals, so just so you know you don't have to do all soft corals.

fishoholic 03-16-2009 08:41 PM

Great pic.'s. Very well set up tank for seahorses.

Key Equine 03-16-2009 08:52 PM

Yup, he eats very well, loves the frozen mysis shrimp. I am picking up some red macro algae today, so we'll see how it goes! I'll watch it doesn't get out of control...

Thank you all for your lovely comments!! :)

New Arrivals

These are my two female H. Angustus which arrived this morning from Vancouver... They are tiny and adorable, still kind of awkwardly shaped though :) Tigger dwarfs them...

He is so beautiful!!! I'm so glad you found him some girl friends. Fantastic pictures and the tank looks fabulous. If I only had more tanks and money... I have always loved seahorses. Oh yeah the red algae from Carmen is beautiful. You will love it.
