Chris

Sorry to hear that.

I have a feeling their will be a lot more loss their jobs in BC before its back to better times.

What we need is a little confidence in the economy and people to start spending again.

I feel your pain man. I have no job in two and a half week either. Not sure what I am going to do...

Hope you figure things out.

Chaloupa 03-11-2009 06:37 AM

I too recently lost my job of 20 years....it's all I've done since graduating high school.....maybe it was time for a change? Mine however was not completely the economy....

whatcaneyedo 03-11-2009 09:45 AM

I was laid off without work for 10 months last year. ATM I've got a part time job but I dont know how long it will last. While I was off last year I went back to college and became a second year carpenter. I still havent been able to get a job as one but at least the course was fun. My recommendation is to start growing pot...

Sorry about that. Seems to be hurting in several of the larger industry,s. Hope you find something your looking for.

FWIW, lots of work out here yet. But then its not beautiful BC. For some reason, the slow down has passed us by or has yet to reach here.

Engineered Lumber, AWOuld that hapen to be Ainsworth Engineered? I too am a victim of the Softwood lumber crisis. I used to work for Ainsworth in Savona, but last job was for West Fraser in 100 MIle. Now, I'm at a mine in the NWT. Mining is still somewhat sustainable. for the near future anyways

Soory to hear about it though. One persone once told me, "One door closes, and another WILL open. Usualy for the better." It did for me. Took 4 months of no paycheque though

wickedfrags 03-11-2009 01:44 PM

Can relate to your experience.

In Ontario the manufacturing and uuto sectors have experienced many job losses. Everyone here knows someone who has lost their job it seems.

lastlight 03-11-2009 01:46 PM

My company is way smaller than it once was. Livin on a prayer. Best of luck.

Whatigot 03-11-2009 02:00 PM

terrible time all over, thats for sure.
at the very least, the economic issues affecting us are short term on the grand scale...
I was reading on bloomburg that bernanke and Obamas team had figured that they can take all of these toxic cdo's that have crippled the credit market and put them into the futures market to be traded as a commodity...

This is really good news, it could mean that the beginning of the end of this crisis is at hand...

blaster 03-11-2009 02:35 PM

I feel for you, I've been out of work for 6 weeks now. The economy is slow right now but it'll pick up.
