Blizzard!

Honestly, I can't recall the last time I seen this much wind and snow. Heard in some places 20cm in an hour. I was out at a friends watching the UFC fight, the ride home was pretty creepy, quite a few moments where it was a complete white out, pulled over a good number of times. Thankfully the majority of people were driving well and had the hazard's going. But wow! Crazy weather!

Trigger Man 03-08-2009 09:10 AM

Good ol mother nature just reminding us that winter is not over. I just got back to Chestermere and the highways were white out conditions on some patches. I got to see a couple of accidents also, so you know it's going to be a mess tomorrow.

fragNplug 03-08-2009 10:05 AM

i had to work in it, and my job is driving, was crazy.

i stepped outside for a smoke last night and i could not beleive my eyes. I have never seen snow like this, the air was so thick with snow it looked like fog.

in 5 years of driving to chestermere last night after ufc was by far the scariest, almost white out the whole way with the odd spot where you could see the center line for a sec to see which way you where drifting

brizzo 03-08-2009 05:34 PM

Doh, we got a freak little snow storm in Kelowna yesterday afternoon. Snow was flying every direction .. only lasted a couple hours then melted, and now it's sunny today :)

Please remove the photo before I have an Angry-I-Hate-Calgary-Weather Aneurism . Had a poker turney last night and was temped to just have everyone stay over at my house. It looked like someone took a snow blower to all my windows, I woke up and the house was dark because of it!

We left Chestermere to drive back in to Calgary and it was a total whiteout almost the whole way. Lucky for us it didn't really start till we hit the city limits so at least we had street lights. We made it home in one piece, have to say I was super careful though cause we had the entire family in the car. I couldn't believe how fast some people were still driving, there must have been a lot of accidents last night.

fishoholic 03-08-2009 07:26 PM

Edmonton was pretty windy and cold last night, but I guess we didn't get it as bad as Calgary got it.

sharuq1 03-08-2009 09:36 PM

Was nasty over in Red Deer too, so much blowing snow!

RobynR 03-09-2009 05:49 PM

Anybody from the West Coast want to post a picture from this morning? Not much to brag about today. LOL. Probably up to 10 inches here on the Sunshine Coast and I hear more further up the Coast and on the island. I wish it still looked like MrFish's picture outside. I guess the difference is that it will melt by tonight and be sunny again for the rest of the week.

Mrfish55 03-09-2009 06:00 PM

OK not as nice as yesterday, but not a flake of snow to be seen.

Melt? Whats this melt you speak of? If this weather keeps up I'll have to mow the lawn by the end of the week

*edit* I had to add a pic taken 5 min ago of my neighbours backyard...nothing smells better then laundry dried on a clotheline

I'm pretty good at growing moss and it doesn't grow very tall, doesn't need mowing quite so often:lol:
