Zombie Movie!
So, just finished watching "Quarantine". I'm not normally a fan of movies that are shot as though the camera is another character (think Blair Witch Project) but this one was pretty decent. Effects are great (I mean, c'mon...Zombies!) It takes a while to get into at first but then it's pretty much non-stop. Even made me jump once or twice.
So, what are your favorite Zombie movies, Actual horror only, no Shaun of the Dead.. (although that is a great movie) 1. Let Sleeping Corpses Lie 2. 28 Days Later 3. Night of the Living Dead 4. Dawn of the Dead 5. Land of the Dead |
not shure why but i seem to like the old cheezy horror movies, no real favorites
i did just finish watching the hbo series true blood which i thought was great, if you have shaw on demand its free under the hbo section |
ScArY movies!
not my fav but damn near close... 30 days of night, dawn of the dead is good to(1978 and 94)the first texas chainsaw but ii have to say NEAR DARK is my favorite:mrgreen:
|
30 Days of Night was awesome! Out of your list, I choose 28 Days Later. And the sequel. Though the old cheesy horror movies are good too  I'm more of a fantasy / sci-fi sorta guy, mostly. My current favorite is still Transformers

Apparently this is movie weekend for me. Also watched the unrated version of "Mirrors". It was great right up till the end. I'm not going to spoil it, but you know where there are GREAT movies and then they spoil it by showing the ghost/alien/demon what have you. Then the movie goes to crap. This is the case. So kind of a spoiler but not quite.

I remember in the 80s a movie call Evil Dead came out. It scared the crap out of me... Sa it awhile ago and laughed a lot. How times and special effects have changed. The Exorcist scared the daylights out of me too back in the old days.
Man, I am old... |

i also thought mirrors was really good untill the end where it got a bit silly i cant remember evil dead but evil dead 2 might be the worst movie ever,i tried to watch it a while ago and after an hour of it i couldnt take it anymore, and thats coming from a guy who has watched all 6 planet of the apes more than once or twice cant forget this gem either http://www.blacksheep-themovie.com/ |
baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahaha!
|
The Evil Dead and The Evil Dead 2 are exactly the same movie. No, really.
If you haven't already, you HAVE to watch "Army of Darkness". It might put the Evil Dead movies into a whole different light for you. Or ... maybe not. I can't believe "Sean of the Dead" hasn't make mention yet. So I'll mention it. :) And one more ... I'll just say this. Norwegians and Nazi Zombies: http://www.deadsnow.com ... Enjoy! (It has English subtitles but the truth is you don't really need them..) |
Well, this isn't a full on horror flick, but a seriously amazing movie. It's called Let The Right One In. It's a swedish "vampire" movie, such an amazing movie. Check out the trailer (i'd post the link but it's not very PG friendly) I highly recommend it!
|
HAHAHAHAH ARMY OF DARKNESS! So classic... Sean of the Dead was really good, took the zombie thing in a lighthearted direction... I laughed pretty hard when I saw it the first time. Oh, and it was mentioned in the first post
I never did make it through Mirrors. I felt like it was going to be a big letdown, and never finished watching it... I think I watched Saw IV after that and haven't watched a horror movie since  Gotta see V though, I'll force myself to watch it just to know what happens. |
Where did you see let the right one in?Is it on video?
|
Mirrors unrated is quite gory. I even squirmed a bit in the bathtub scene (those who have seen it know ENTIRELY what I'm talking about) And to be totally honest, I'm not that much into gore movies. I'd rather see a movie that messes with your mind rather than show some guy's arm being ripped off. Having said that, I looked at mirrors a little differently for a bit

I second 28 Days Later. I loved it!
True Blood was renewed for a second season! Although waiting so long for it, is hard. HBO only does 12 episodes per season. |
Oh shoot, I missed the part where you said "No Shaun's of the Dead." Uh ... bummer. Sorry.

as far as the zombies go i have to agree with everyone about 28 days and i also liked i am legend |
.....I cried when the dog got infected....well, got teary eyed

I'm currently watching Resident Evil: Apocalypse.
Good zombie movie, horrible plot line (maybe because I beat the game so quickly) but it does have decent effects so far.... Channel 32 Calgary if anyone is interested |
Watched Pontypool this weekend. A great new, and freshly Canadian, perspective on a zombie movie. LOVED it, highly recommend it.
|
I actually really liked the first Resident Evil. Even though its based on a video game I found it to be a really good stand alone zombie horror movie. Unlike Silent Hill which didnt really make any sense to me...
For all of you Shaun of the Dead fans out there you really need to check out Fido if you havent heard of it before. Here is a link: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0457572/ Its a touching story about a boy and his 'pet' zombie. As an added bonus its Canadian too! |
