Thanks Bob. I have already read up on them.whatI'm looking for is hands on experience, eg. Survival rate or how long it hung on for. J&L told me they love really stong light like a 400w  . I'm figuring if the Monti Caps are growing quite well under my 2-55w PC's and my 2-110w VHO 03's them I was wondering if it would do well in my tank
I already have two other Toadies Ahhh this stupid keyboard is crapping out on me  the spacebar seems to want to delete stuff  |
Bob it is of the Sarcophyton sp., but that doesn't really tell much cause there is a few in that sp. Saltwaterconnection has a nice pic of one I'll see if I can get it on here.

I have one under PC lighting and overdrivien T8 bulbs. It grew well, but it went from bright yellow to a light brown color.

Thanks Tigger. Maybe I should get rid of the 2 PC's and throw on a couple more VHO's

I've got a Sarcophyton Elegans which looks like that. Its regularly called a Yellow Fiji Leather or Yellow Tongan Leather. No special requirements. I had it under 110 watts for about a year and it was fine before upgrading to MH. No target feeding.
Here's mine: http://www.hyperdream.com/~samw/reef...74_img_std.jpg Here's another pic from a website. See last image: http://reef.esmartweb.com/softies.htm . |
Thanks Sam I'am sold. Yours is a Beauty  . Maybe I still throw on a couple more VHO's :grab: .

Sam, thats a beaut.
Mak, mine love my 400w bulbs, but are almost 3ft from them. I also think good pc or vho lighting is fine. |
I think the one in this picture is just a junior sized version of the ones in previous posts. The polyps are quite similar to my other sarco pictured below. (before anyone asks, it is undergoing reattachment proceedings, because the stalk was getting long.)
Both these guys are under one 10000K 96W PC most of the day in a 50 gallon tank, and do very well. In the evening the 96W Actinic PC comes on for a few hours. Just for fun I am adding a picture of my LTA, which is not supposed to survive PC lighting according to some folks. http://members.shaw.ca/rcipema/sarco.jpg http://members.shaw.ca/rcipema/sarcotwo.jpg http://members.shaw.ca/rcipema/lta.jpg |
So that's were my feeding container went  . But seriously though, it all looks good. Man are those Polyps on that second pic ever big  . I'd probably hang onto that LTA if I were you.
