shaw phone
Well I know my posts have been dealing with a lot of phone stuff latley Anyone have shaw's residential phone service any concerns how do you like it?
|
We have it, can't run our old outdated modem on it though, but other than that, no problems.
|
I was wondering,
What if you want enother phone say in other room or upstairs, do you need to run a coax cable there? thx |
No there is a modem on the board where the line comes into the home and hooks your whole house up just like a regular phone.
|
I have had it for about a year. It has been better than Telus over that time. The calls are clearer and their plans suit me fine.

I've been on shaw phone for a few years now and I enjoy their service. So far so good, I recommend them.
RuGlu6 you can run as many phones as you have with shaw, basically works the same as the other phone companies. They run a modem into the main phone line and you can plug your phones into whatever phone jacks you have in your house. |
I've been on shaw for a home phone for a bit now and have had not problems. I know a bunch of people that have been on shaw for years and they have not had any real problems. When shaw started home phone there were problems of no dail tone and people calling you getting a busy signal, but that was years ago and if this happpened and if you called shaw they would give you a free month service. Just think, you can bundle phone, internet and cable and save some money.
|
I can agree with this. I've had Shaw phone, internet and TV for a few years and had some minor phone issues early on but haven't had any trouble for quite some time. I would recommend anything Shaw.

i have only added the phone in the last 18 months, but love the flat rate accross canada. have had no issues with it what so ever. thinking of getting rid of the the old shoe phone.
|
I had them for about a year no issues at all.
Only got rid of it as I was only using the phone 1-2 times a month, so it wasn't cost effective to keep it. |

I have shaw digital phone mostly for making long distance and overseas calls; very good rates. $0.04 to england most times :)
|
Been a Shaw internet customer for over 10 years and a phone user since it was launched here. Never had a single problem with either other than my internet being down MAYBE twice for a bit. Very happy customer.
|
I have also been a happy Shaw customer for many years. I use their internet and phone service and have had very few problems. The main reason for using Shaw?....it's not Telus!

I think we've already established that he can't go wrong with the Shaw phone service. Otherwise the beardedTree would indeed deserve a beatin'...not to mention me.
|
Sorry for going off topic. Just can't (Telus sucks) help (Shaw rocks) myself sometimes!

LOVE shaw! Best customer service by far. Unfortunately my cell is with Rogers...what a mistake that was. Its like night and day between the two when it comes to service. Rogers could care less and Shaw actually does seem to care or at least has trained their employees to be nice :) IMO there is only one provider with worse customer service than Rogers...and they like to color yellow tangs purple and blue.
|
EDIT: Nevermind :D Won't go there.
|
Or the fact you don't require a contract with Shaw....
And they have 10mbit and 25mbit internetz!!! (But telus is rolling out GPON soon... Gigabit Passive Optical Network)... |

so here I got shaw for Internet and TV but want to switching the whole house over to Telus for their TV. Not big a having to pay for Shaw's digital boxes that Telus gives out.
|
I know a couple of people who had Telus TV and ended up switching to Shaw. Let's just say, there must be a reason why Telus gives away their equipment. I use Expressvu for TV. Their HD PVRs are the best, hands down.

If you have a monitored alarm system, and you are concerned about security - DO NOT get a Shaw telephone line.
The draw back is that Shaw only provides an 8 hour battery pack in their modems. That's 8 hours of storage time - not talk time. If the power goes off, or you have power interuption for any length of the time - your alarm system will not be able to call the monitoring company if you have a break in. The alarm system has enough battery power for quite some time. However, your Shaw line does not. Beware if the battery wears out as well. No power, no phones. Life expectancy under optimal conditions is approx. 3-4 years. If you are thinking of using Shaw for a multi-line business - my advice can be condensed in one word - "DON'T"! A telephone tech |
