For Those with more diverse music taste...

Lux died yesterday. Lead singer of The Cramps. Kind of rockabilly/punk. He was only 62. :(

OMG, someone else with 'diverse' musical taste! Also the first I've heard of this, unfortunately  Well, lets look at the bright side... at least he made it past 29.

Just a thought... have you ever listened to Rebel vs. Rebel?

Rbacchiega 02-06-2009 07:14 AM

*downloads some tracks now*

No I havn't, but if it's anything like the cramps I'm sure it'll be playing non stop at the shop. I usually crank my Ipod over the stereo there, so one song will be Johnny Cash, then Kiss, then City and Color, Roy Orbison. It's pretty varied.

On a side note...I'm going to go party with the Real McKenzies St Paddy's day...RAD

I hate you  (just kidding)... Rebel vs. Rebel is sort of like country punk. I like music that takes from more than one genre... like Sublime, or Beck, or...

Rbacchiega 02-06-2009 07:28 AM

they've done quite a few shows in Calgary recently. And I happen to know alot of the people who work at the places they play so I get in free and party backstage. Even rung in Paul's birthday with the boys last year. My god I love them

BlueAbyss 02-06-2009 07:46 AM

That would be wild and awesome! I'm extremely jealous... I don't think I've ever met some who could be considered 'famous'. Let alone partied with them :surprise:

Looks like you'll have to make a trip out here to Calgary. Great music scene if you know where to go.

BlueAbyss 02-06-2009 07:56 AM

Incidently, I WILL have to make a trip out there sometime... A friend of mine is moving down there tomorrow, I have relatives and friends there, and I could probably stand to go to a LFS while there too.

Hmm then I can get clubbing done too. Last time I was there I think my cousin took me to the Wildwood and somewhere else, but I had a terrible time because I had a headache. I had a sinus headache the whole time I was there actually, for whatever reason, so I didn't go out much. And I hate driving in Calgary... I swear that Safeway was stalking me, every time I came to that stop sign I turned a different way and still ended up back at that stop sign. I eventually had to call my cousin to come lead me back to my uncle's house

But sometime. After I buy my next car  I refuse to take the bus.

Warehouse is a must. One of the only places open past 3am. But my favourite haunt is the Distillery. Great place if you like the music (which it seems you do). Then there's the Ship and Anchor pub (a must on Robbie Burns day)...I could go on and on

Man thats too bad.

That place isn't for the goth/industrial crowd anymore from the sounds of it. Used to head there for some good electronic music back in the day...

Rbacchiega 02-06-2009 06:06 PM

def not goth/industrial anymore. Good place to finish the night/morning off though.

BlueAbyss 02-06-2009 09:11 PM

Electronica is sort of what I'm into these days, can't really explain it... though dance music is for the most part garbage, I have a thing for house and that sort of stuff. Though I don't hesitate to throw in some Propaghandi, Nirvana, or Nine Inch Nails once in a while
