looking at iphone
wifes cell contract coming up soon , been looking at the iphone or other touch screen type phones, but we dont really need the whole fancy gadgets on the ph. we don't do texting but may. Looking to see what others have in there pocket and how they like them. Ourselfs we might as well get something decent if it's for free or at least not full price I seen lg has some good phones any comments please add to posting. probably will go continue with exsiting server or go to telus.

I have an IPhone and I absolutely love it. I do however use the internet and e-mail a lot on it. If you are not going to use the "fancy gadgets" there are plenty of other phones out there that cost less that will make calls jsut as good. But if you don't mind spending the money, get the iphone. It has endless amounts of uses.

My husband has an Iphone and loves it. He does the tunes, surfs, and texts. I wasnt going to be using the internet, but I like the tunes and the texting so I got a Blackberry Curve. Love it.

iphone user here...LOVE it. I read the news each morning on the train...easier to swing around than a big paper. Also gps comes in handy a lot.
|
Our contract was up and I went and got my wife the Blackberry Storm. I've been a fan of the iphone, but after playing around with her phone(while she's not around - very possessive of her new phone :D ) I must say that it is also a very impressive smart phone. I may just have to get my own.

i cannot believe how bias you people are. they are absoolute GARBAGE. if the reason you want an iphone os to playgames etc then fine but the actual phone itself is trash. id sooner carry walkie talkies than an iphone. JUST IMO. i dont own one but my best friend does. half the time it doesnt ring the other half the calls are dropped. like i said above, if the phone funtion itself is not what your interested in the go ahead. my buddy is a mega dork and he is not satified at all. everything works great EXCEPT THE PHONE. (isnt that the whole point of a mobile PHONE???)

My wife and i both have the New HTC touch pro's. The only positve things with these phones are they are windows based so it is like have a pc in your phone. Nice for me as i work out of town but i can sit at my desk and surf the net etc just like sitting on my computer...
Great reception and never any issues with it yet so far!! |
I have been thinking about a iphone when my telus contract is up a buddy of mine has one and he loves it never had any problem with it dropping calls as far as I know. But I dont know about rogers service who is using Rogers right now and how are they to deal with. How is the cell reception are there many problems with dead zones? Telus is real good for the service area I have been back behind Mission 4 wheelin and still been able to call out.

I have an original version HTC Touch. and I cant wait till my contract is up. It's a good PDA and the like, but the cell range sux, and the screen is sensitive when your talking and it starts activating things when touching your ear LOL

I LOVE my iphone LOVE IT!!! I have had lots of phones and usually there is something that it lacks or I don't really like. I can put my own ring tones onto it, surf the net, facebook in bumper to bumper traffic, and just about anything else. I use it when I am working to listen to music and can check email at a jobsite.
I think it si the best investment for a phone you can have. I have never had any sort of buyer's remorse what so ever. |

Yeah I have had the off problem with a call being dropped. Making calls is about the least used feature on my phone. Only ever really talk to my wife here and there. Camera does also suck on them but that's why I have an SLR. |
The thing to note is the the iphone is not a phone. It is a small portable computer that has a phone built into it. As far as i can tell the problem with most of the others is that they are built by phone companies and are phones with the other features added in. I think Apple came at it from a very different perspective and that's why they have built such a fantastic device. The app store now has over 15,000 different applications you can download (some for free and some at a small cost) so there is probably an app for just about anything you might want to do with it.
I love my iphone and wouldn't trade it for anything else currently available. It works extrememly well and has tons of functionality for something that fits in your pocket. Yeah, i can make calls wit it. But I can also surf the net, check my emails, use google maps to navigate, listen to my music, watch movies on it, play games, gauge the performance of my car, let my kids play or draw sketches on it or watch spiderman in a long check out line and on and on... the iphone is really leaps and bounds ahead of anything else out there. The only negative with buying a new one is you are trapped with Rogers for three years. If you can hold off for a year then there will be more competition in the GSM market in Canada and you will probably be able to get a better deal on one. Or if you can find a 1st generation iphone like I have you can unlock it and go on a month to month plan instead of being trapped into a 3 year prison term. Actually, you can now unlock iphone 3Gs too but finding one to buy on eBay etc. will probably cost you and arm and a leg. |
I love my iphone wouldnt trade it for any other phone, my calls have never been dropped the only down size is no video recording capabilities.

thanks to all so far on your reviews on this phone
It"s helpful to hear from others than to read or hear it from a salesmen point of view. |
My wife and I both have Iphones and absolutely love them. No problems whatsoever. It sure is one incredible little device! Wouldn't trade it for anything!

you have to remember any pda or phone is only as good as the service provider.here in ontario the storm is either by bell or telus,my brother in law has a new storm and i played with it for a few days, very nice.as well i had the opportunity to ply with an i phone.my main requirements were email and the actual phone as i do use it alot.in the end i went with the i phone hosted with rogers wireless.the phone works perfect, better than bell as i still have a phone with them,i was also with telus for 6yrs and i can say rogers works much better in toronto area.as for the i phone itself i never thought i would use any of the apps they offer and that wasnt even a factor in deciding on it,but once i had it theres quite a few aps i found useful and able to employ in everyday tasks for work,i dont use the ipod feature, its an all around great handheld device,my brother in law was playing with it after he got his storm and regrets not getting the i phone, the only drawback is i rely on email to reach my right away, the i phone takes 15 minutes at its best setting whereas any blackberry its instant, there is an app for i phone to upgrade to instant but it runs about $100 if i remember correctly, either way with the storm or i phone you cant go wrong,on u tube type in iphone vs. storm and theres a guy that does a head to head with both units showing all features, pro and cons.hope this helps.

My fiance and lil sis have an iphone. I have a bb curve, my father had a bb storm (HATED IT) and my older sis has a bb world. The iphone is the best by far. From everything I can tell... iphones are the best phone you can have... it'll do a thousand other things and is very user friendly.

I also seen telus's smartphone the "Dare" model I spoke to one person so far and they think it's great but he says but not as good as the iphone but close. |

Had the iphone and liked it, but recently switched to a Blackberry bold and love it! After having HTC touch and iphone I was just dying to have a propper keyboard again. iphone is great and all, but I'm sick of touchscreens! I can type out a text, post, email ect on a Blackberry without having to look at the keyboard. I could never get to this point with any touchscreen device. Also, having touchflo technology uses up valuable resources that could otherwise be used for something else.

The Nokia N82 is rather powerfull but it's best feature is a great camera with a real flash (xenon). My only complaint is the lack of a real keyboard or touchscreen, there are rumors a touchscreen is coming. I've had no reception issues in Canada, US, or Europe.

Any one have the telus LG touch dare smartphone or the blackberry "storm"
