Super macro underwater
|

Very nice. Were these actually taken underwater? What camera and what lens?
|
You bet. Camera: Olympus Stylus 1030 SW. It is just a point and shoot camera no lens attachment options on that camera. I'm shooting in super macro mode. Glad you like
|
Niiiice!
|
Those pictures are fantastic. Does the entire camera goes under water?

Yeah, that model is waterproof to like 60 feet I think.
|
Great Shots!!!
|
Waterproof to 33 feet...
OMG I need a camera like this. I have a Panasonic Lumix FZ8... an amazing camera, takes beautiful telephoto (and not) shots, but the macro leaves a bit to be desired. Or maybe I just haven't learned how to use my camera yet... Anyhow I've been on the lookout for a camera that's more of an on-the-go camera, and I think I've found it! |
Awesome pictures, and awesome pieces.. real nice!
|
Amazing shots. When I was in Hawaii with the extended family a few years back my brother had an underwater point and shoot. Boy did I feel like a chump with my little $20 35mm disposables. What a great idea and clearly makes for some awesome photos.
The clam is incredible!! So is the first shot, what kind of brain is that? |
Very nice indeed.
|
wow you must have a steady hand.... I think I just found my new camera for taking pics....
one question do you need the underwater case or can this camera be submerged without the case? |

very good pictures and interesting too!

So far any questions asked have been answered buy others so I'll post a few more not so close shots. This camera is very fun but it does have limits. It is nice that it is shock + waterproof. So dropping not such a worry, great little vacation camera.

Nice pics man.I have a similar camera as well. A pentax optio WPI. Its great being able to just dunk the camera in and get as close as you can to the piece. I bought the camera to go fishing with and now I use it more inside my tank.

Delphinus has asked the name of the Faviidae in the first pic. I'm still trying to i.d. I have over 100 books and The first attempt I ran out of time. So that question has spured another attempt. Ocean City sold it to me and said it was a type of monti, ya right maybe colpophyllia natans or platygyra daedalea
|
Scratch that how about Family Agariciidae Genus Pavona.... maybe speciosa

I always wanted this camera but never got it because of reviews like one below.
how is yours holding up? maybe there is a way to make sure battery compartment is tight before going under water? http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...ustomerReviews Strengths Clean photos, easy to use, lots of features Weaknesses Leaked :( Summary Survived one week of a three week trip to the Caribbean. Followed all the instructions given in the manual pertaining to water use. One day, just would'nt turn on. Removed the battery and there was moisture in the compartment. Sent it back to Olympus, still waiting for a verdict. |
I have only use it in the aquarium so far. I did but it after a couple hundred bad snorkel photo's with the throw away underwater. That how I justified the purchase. A guy on RC has had some trouble to he was getting spots in all his pics. I hope they just made a few duds. If I do have any problems I will voice that on the forums. Thanks for the heads up. Mine is about 8 months old.

I have this camera, I guess I should practice my underwater shots! Very nice pic's
My friend also has this camera and she has taken underwater pic's at the creek she camps at in the summer and hasn't had any problems so far. |
Great pics. I have the first model out of this camera, it has survived many snorkeling trips around the world and in our aquarium too. The underwater video mode is great. I will have to upload a vid to youtube to show you guys, its a lot of fun!
