wicked sick zoas coming soon - check these out!

Some of the nicest stuff I ever gotten my hands on in terms of zoas. Will be making a couple frags of each available. The colonies are small but REAL nice. I will frag them, leave them to heal for a week or two and then plan a site update. wicked.....and I have a few more to add later!

Nice pick ups. I saw pictures of those on RR's thread. Ive never had deepwater zoas, in fact Ive never known anyone that has kept these. Are they new to the aquarium trade? And any idea how they do in captivity?

Kinda curious how they do under MH light. If they do well after fragging I see a few I prolly cant live without.

wickedfrags 01-17-2009 09:25 PM

Honestly there was little discussion about these zoas at the LFS's this weekend- they sold almost instantly. I think they are simply from a new geographic Region rather than "Deepwater" (if anyone actually kows what this means). That being said, I would wager they will do just as well any any other zoaanthid. Could be more challenging like the aussie zoas, but only time will tell.

I will be fragging these (and others) in the next few days. Once they heal and hopefully start to grow, then, and only then will they be for sale.

Trigger Man 01-17-2009 10:25 PM

Ya really nice, well worth the money you mentioned you spent on another thread. I wish we could get colonies like that at the LFS in Calgary.

wickedfrags 01-17-2009 11:36 PM

In time Ed. Need to ensure they are hardy and well healed before I make them available.

Indeed!

Yes............the nicest stuff is never cheap. At the end of the day however, it is all about the quality of the corals in the tank. Fancy tanks and equipment does not matter if you just have regular, plain corals that do not capture people's attention.....at least IMO.

And hey, should of told me you wanted some colonies - I could have done some shopping for you and shipped it your way! I have done this before for people out of Province.

O...M....G.

those are some of the nicest zoas i have ever seen. i so wish that my tankwas up, or that we would get stuff like that in calgary.

when do you plan on moving to toronto by the way? (hoping my tank is up so i can get some of that wicked green torch before you leave)

banditpowdercoat 01-18-2009 02:07 AM

Hopefully you'll still have them when the weather gets better and they can make a cross Canada trip

Scythanith 01-18-2009 02:14 AM

Wicked stuff Dave, no pun intended! You have a great eye for the beauties!

wickedfrags 01-18-2009 12:24 PM

I work in Toronto...should I decide to bo my MHSc it will be part-time while working. So I will not be moving anytime soon. I am in Oakville - about 25-2 hours from downtown Toronto depemding on the time of day!

I am confident the corals will make it, it is the courier system that worries me. Has been a bad winter for us here in TO, snow every other day it seems.

Any idea where those were harvested? I was wondering if they are aussie or not? Very Very nice!

wickedfrags 01-18-2009 09:30 PM

Not aussie. It would have been advertised if they were. Do not mind that they are aussie as the aussie zoas are notoriously challenging to keep.

I will have a wicked sale price on the purple, yellow and orange one above. Want everyone to have a chance to own some of these. Much nicer than the average zoa!

Good to know that you can look for colonies and ship them. Keep your eyes open for a nicely colored and sized Oregon Tort Colony for me. There is not time frame, if you find one just pm me.
Thanks,

lorenz0 01-19-2009 01:31 AM

aww wow. can't wait to do this next order now. probably will be getting mostly zoa's anyways lol

karazy 01-19-2009 01:33 AM

haha im actualy really mad that my tank isnt up. i love all these zoas soo much!
Are you gonna keep some to grow out, or sell them all off?

also, how often do stores around you get crazy zoas like that?

wickedfrags 01-19-2009 11:28 AM

Think a true nicely sized and coloured Oregon Tort would only come from Oregon! Generally those brand name corals stay in the US. That being said, we should be getting some nice SPS in a hand-picked shipment in the next few weeks.

The really nice colonies, well I never sell them all off. I have some zoanthid colonies I have been fragging and selling for 3 years. I have some SPS I have been fragging and selling for 5 years. Start your tank this year and I should still haev these available.

First time I have seen such a nice zoa shipment. The shipment was exclusively zoas which does not happen that often.

kool. i plan to have my tank up in about april, so when august or september comes a knocking, so will i :P

scholar 01-19-2009 03:47 PM

the only real diffrence between is the water temp that these came from is lower... compared to one from indo or bali etc

wickedfrags 01-19-2009 05:56 PM

Perhaps less intense light as well.

Thanks for the PM's - however the last 2 are very limited. When I update the site it will be first email received to hold them. Thanks.

traco 01-20-2009 04:01 AM

Damn, I think I've got one picked out and then more pics are posted!! lol Beautiful zoas you got, can't wait to see them up for sale once fragged.

wickedfrags 01-20-2009 11:20 AM

Just one ;) Have fragged some, but they need to heal. Hopefully in a week or so I will make them available. Dave

Prefer a Canreef WYSIWYG thread all for zoas (including proces of course), or a site update?

As a result of my recent reno's I happen to have alot of zoas frags available.

Scythanith 01-23-2009 03:05 PM

You could always give Canreef first dibs and then toss the pictures on the site a couple days later.

On the same note, it's not that tough for people to just head over to your site once it's updated.

You could throw another auction packages together as well. The last one was popular!

hurley 01-26-2009 10:27 PM

pricing????????????

wickedfrags 01-27-2009 02:10 PM

Well the "sponsor" fees are do again.........so just thinking just canreef members right now - will post a zoa frag-pack at a nice price. Time is hard to come by right now, finishing the basement, work, MHSc application due...........that being said some of the zoas a looking real good.

May do an auction also, will check out the tank for the wicked ones

Will put a WYSIWYG frag pack together. I made a few extra frags, but with time being the way it is, this will bea easier for me, and those interested will still get the pieces they are really after.

what is a good price point for a nice zoa frag pack (10 frags) shipped to your door?

karazy 01-27-2009 11:25 PM

i say about $200 would be a great deal, but in more realisticallity about 260-300 is fair.

just ones reefers opinion though :)
