Profilux sms module so cool!!!!
 

I am so impressed with this I just had to share

After receiving the new GHL ProfiLux SMS module I just had to give this awesome Unit a go!

This is the text i just sent myself from my profiLux to my cell phone

OK so what can you use this for?

Well the most important thing is alarms, for example you being dragged around the Mall by the ball and chain (English for wife) and the alarm goes off that your water level has risen.

Just think this could also be a great excuse, set the profilux to text you GET HOME FAST and you have an excuse from all the Christmas shopping.

But on a very serious note, we have already sold these to people with flood concerns and users that are away from home during the day or longer and want to monitor what their tank is up to.

First batch pretty much getting close to all sold, so jump quick, next batch after xmas!

man that is really cool. how much information can it send? and how often?

It will send a brief header message like a title and then it will send ALL your paremeters you set it to send.

The mount is MAX 20 a day.

Can you not already do this via the computer software and an e-mail enabled phone?
As long as the profilux computer software is running and connected to the Profilux it can send e-mails to your phone.

No not at all as the profiLux needs to be "interogated"

There is no physical way to get your PC to send a text with the profiLux data encrypted.

It can send Email yes but your PC has to be on, and the whole point of this unit is for fast easy access without anything being left on with mains supply. If you have a UPS and the pc and the ProfiLux is connected to it and your pc has not gone into sleep mode, then yes you will get the email. But the whole concept is to keep things simple.

The other thing not everyone has email phones, but everyone has text.

Example your house has a power cut, the ProfiLux cant send you an email as your pc has dumped itself all over the floor with the power cut

BUT

With the SMS and its battery back up you will get an alarm within a few seconds to your cell phone

That's odd as I have done it in the past

Sorry the ProfiLux email relies on the PC being on.

The SMS module has been developed to safe guard all scenarios within reason. And as i said not everyone wishes to have their PC on 24/7 espcially when away and not everyone has email phones (yet).

So as you can see, other than just being a COOL gadget this great new tool really helps in the management of your system

Now you have two options

Email alert - with restrictions of what is left running at home
OR
SMS alert and messaging - With little restrictions.

No I'm sorry not during a power outage or the Computer off.

Best get yourself an SMS unit then ;)

Does GHL plan for an iPhone app that allows control of the system? This feature already looks cool tho. Can it just send you your system details a few times a day even if all is well?

Also, can the profilux spit data out to a webpage like the Aquacontroller?

i apps are quite involved so i do not see this in the ear future

Yes it can send you status messages when ever you want up to 20 times a day, it is not just for alarms.

GHL are working on something a lot more sophisticated than what is available elsewhere and will be part of the PIII which of course will roll down to the PII users that do not wish the upgrade.

Regarding the webserver tho...can the unit be controlled through a webpage or can stats be viewed live from a webpage? My phone could do the rest =)

No this is SMS text only to phone.

Email is already available and so is internet access of the profiLux

Is the LAN or WLAN option needed for this?
Can this email be scheduled/automated?

Sorry I know these were not SMS questions, I'm considering getting a Profilux controller and was wondering what email capabilities come without the SMS option. Although, the SMS features seem really cool, they may not be in the budget for the initial purchase.

You do not need a LAN or WLAN card for this the software (which is free for life) does this for you. :)

All you need is the profilux connected to a pc that is online

You can schedule and automate it yes.
