If you had an unlimited amount of money...
Just curious, say money was no object, how big of a tank would you get and what equipment, fish etc. would you have?
I think I would have three 8 feet long by 4 feet wide by 2 1/2 feet tall tanks. One for tangs and rabbitfish, lps and softies. One for angels and wrasses. One for puffers and triggers. MH lights all around, tunze power heads/multi controllers, auto top off system and Bubble king skimmers. I would probably also have a 60g cube for smaller fish like blennies/gobies dwarf angels, and a tank for a golden dwarf moray eel. |
|
Such a waste, that tank was a FW :(
I'd have a 25 000 gallon Shark Reef. it would be build to have a drop off. Basically, rock on one side, stacked up nearly to the top, full of corals. A semi-steep pitch with overhangs to a large area with sand, some rocks and gorgs, suncorals with a black tip reef shark. Basically recreate an actual reef. |
Well, the first thing I would do is move to the coast, maybe North Vancouver. then, I'd get a flow through system that pumps in natural seawater into a 5 million gallon system (well he said unlimited!). My main stock: a bunch of Manta rays. and then a wack load of other fish to keep it interesting.
edit: and yes, i will be charging for dive trips :) |
do-able dream: i've always wanted to convert a pool into a reef. that would be so cool, you could dive in there.
sorta do-able dream: 30 foot wide, 8 foot tall cylinder. not possible unless i was bill gates or oprah dream: Buy the Georgia aquarium |

Guimaras Straight (working on being able to walk out of my beach house with my flippers on).

I'd buy an island in the middle of the Pacific and go diving - way less work, and better everything!
|
Hey great idea, just buy the Vancouver Aquarium. Much less work than for a little more
money build your dream house around it. Charge addmission or maybe not. Now that would be cool. Actually forget Vancouver a thought just came to me. The Honolulu Aquarium would be even better. |
If I had unlimited money, I wouldn't have an aquarium.. I'd have a beach house (mansion) with Reef Front property..
|
Two tanks for me. 700 gollon reef 72x80x48. 1500 120x60x48 fowlr.
Water charges for one tank to the other. Reef would be Zeovit, with all the automadic dossing. On the big Island of Hawii ocean front. Come on lottlo. |
hair plugs and a bigger winner for me

Good ideas. I'm starting to think that it would be really cool to have a mansion where the whole basement was a super large sw fish tank. That has a glass/ceiling type lid that you can walk on.
|
Oh I am thinking that if I didn't spend all my money on my reef tanks I could afford almost everything else.

I would get a 300g (10'x2'x2'). I don't want anything bigger than that. I've just always wanted a 10' tank, and not wanting to waste electricity on lighting I would make sure I had perfect 2'x2'x2' cubes for my MHs. I would also have several 20g tanks plumbed into a single sump and have some really cool invert and Acan tanks.

I think I would have a 180 gal tank.. I am inharently lazy and wouldn't want to maintain anything larger than that

lol, for the mansion floor one, you would need a broom like mag float :P

5G FW pico with a neon!!!

I would fork out the $500000 for lights and live rock. Then learn how to scuba with a tank like that.

i thought about this tank for probably an hour straight today.
thats right, the sump room is under the bed :twised: http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/h...01/awesome.png |
I think I would just build an underwater/above water house on the edge of an actual reef.
|
I would build a 30 foot cylindrical tank that spanned across 2 floors of the house, maybe a spiral staircase that goes around it to the 2nd floor. Only in my dreams thou, lol.
|
If my funds were unlimited I would by myself an ocean some where tropical.

Here's the dream.
http://therealadam.com/wordpress/wp-...cean-house.jpg Or this one ( below ) that actually exists...make that water a bit deeper and by a reef and... voila! http://pro.corbis.com/images/RF24547...DD7F0C0E35A%7D ________ Kawasaki KDX400A |
Found one to add to the list
Gold and silver Jelliquarium |
I'd just have a big tank but nothing too HUGE. You don't stay rich by being dumb with your money.... and unlimited is never "unlimited" and if it is then I'd just buy the whole ocean... actually the entire WORLD!
|
Beachfront property along the GBR. With all that money I (obviously) wouldn't have to work but I would certainly be able to have a modest tank (i dunno... lets say 375 gallons) that had that beautiful seawater pumped directly in and out. I'd capture stuff along the reef that caught my fancy as well.
Imagine... no more water changes... no more dosing... no more shelling out for Australian corals... Thats the dream. |
