I mad this cabinet out of melamine board which was a mistake cuz all that work is starting to bubble and peel.I`ll make a new one when I have to, like when the skimmer overflows again! That thing can suck my sump dry in 5 min. and put it my floor,I know.

mark 10-11-2008 04:35 PM

how about some overall pictures of the tank

I wanted to have a separate mangrove tank so I built this lagoon type table tank.I plumbed it to the main tank return pump.I T`d off at intake of pump so it acts like a venturi and refills simply through gravity to the same level as the main tank sump

I planted about 10 mangroves, only 1 survived whats up with that.
I also had 4 fiddler crabs that all were eatin by a blenny.Never thought that would happen till I busted him rippin off ones leggs, looked over when I heard splashing. Its a coral eating blenny, anyone want him.

Sebae again 10-13-2008 07:32 AM

Your tank looks fantastic! The growth is amazing. What kind of calcium /kalk reactor do you use?How much media do you go through?

Ya Dude 10-13-2008 06:14 PM

I use a marinetec reactor and refill it every 3-4 months

Sebae again 10-13-2008 10:07 PM

How many stages is your reactor?

Delphinus 10-14-2008 01:16 AM

Dang man there is some serious colour coming out of this tank.

So what size is the main display?

What lights you using?

Looks like a blue or purple gigantea carpet in the pics from '06. Did you sell it or do you still have it?

nice stuff man!! Very nicely done.

Sebae again 10-14-2008 01:48 AM

This is without a doubt a Tank Of The Month!

Ya Dude 10-14-2008 03:55 AM

the tank is 225g
yes that was Gigantea which dubbled in size sometimes and would take out my knew frags so donated it to Mountview Conservation which has a 500g tank

Last year I upgraded the lights to 3 400w lumanarcIII 12k reeflux

Ya Dude 10-14-2008 04:01 AM

oh ya the reactor is a 5 stage but dont use any of those small reactors on the side.Couldnt figger out what they were for anywho

untamed 10-14-2008 04:56 AM

VERY nice.

Delphinus 10-14-2008 05:30 AM

Cool, next time I'm out west I'll have to check out this Mountain View Conservation Centre, I just googled it and it sounds neat. Anyhow said it before but I'll say it again, very nice tank!

Sweet tank dude! Take some recent front and side shots....bring it!

tang daddy 02-17-2009 07:25 AM

Wow ya dude!!

Did these all start of as frags?

I call tank tour........

bignose 02-17-2009 04:34 PM

Do you work in a fab shop? your steel work looks top notch.

Jason McK 02-17-2009 04:54 PM

Looks Amazing. I love the lighting rack.

If you don't mind what did it cost to biuld the lighting rack?

J

lastlight 02-17-2009 06:13 PM

I love the in-wall plumbing! Is that irrigation pipe?

This has been TOTM material for a while now.

High tide 02-22-2009 05:58 AM

We should swap some frags soon, maybe enjoy a frosted barley pop or two while were at! I've decided I'm going to plumb a few more tanks and a bigger skimmer on to my system downstairs, i'll show you my plans later.

Ya Dude 03-10-2009 04:07 AM

Word up to all your comments fellow reefers.I do work at a steel fab shop so lots of things I build for my tank tend to be a bit on the heavy side, but its cost effective(cha-ching).The BOSS just shakes his head, dosent even ask anymore.

Tunze 6305 went in today so the flow rate went up a tad.Much betta
will update pics after the dust settles

pterfloth 03-10-2009 05:23 AM
