What temperature does everyone keep there tank at?

Also how much can the temperature in the tank fluctuate before I should be worried? Mine seems to vary during the day

DanG 10-09-2008 02:56 AM

I aim for 78°, it dips as low at 77.5 overnight and as high as 79 during the day when all the lights are on. I think anything less than a 4° swing is ok.

martym 10-09-2008 03:12 AM

between 79.5 and 81

Tom R 10-09-2008 03:15 AM

I keep my temp at 78.0 F. My lights 3 x 250W will move the temp to approx 79.5. In the summer I use a chiller to keep the temp within a max of 80.5F

Trigger Man 10-09-2008 05:52 AM

brizzo 10-09-2008 06:07 AM

78 to 79F

One time I had a faulty glass thermometer that showed my temperature as -6F of what the REAL temp was. ie; it would display 80, but water was really 86F

Advice for everyone to check and see if your thermometer is actually accurate

I hear ya, great advice, I've had the same thing happen, now I have 3 thermometers (2 in the tank- 1 digital, 1 old school- and 1 in the sump) to make sure the temp is accurate.
