I like it... I'd like it more if there wasn't all those stand pipes... but its definitely a cool looking tank.. Neat aquascaping.

Excellent tank! I had actually seen your tank on NR before.....and thought it was pretty cool...I subscribed to the thread as I like your tank and enjoy the updates!

Very cool tank, like the sand choice, its a nice change. Not sure i would advocate using black rubber radiator hoses on your return system tho.

silverplanet 10-03-2008 11:50 PM

Very nice! :)

I have to say I have never seen those plastic boards used as baffles before :) .. love the super deep stand :) Is it effective at that depth? I assume the baffles are not "water" tight, so it probably doesn't get too anaerobic down there.

Love the Froggy forest!! I have a similar area in my tank which I call my Euphyllia forest. I love em! :)

silverplanet 10-04-2008 12:33 AM

the plastic boards are not that good actually, all i had around so i used them. next time it will be glass. the dsb seems to work good. there is layers of black in it but i have always used a dsb this deep and found them very effective. i had a 40g hex that was a non photosynthetic tank with tube anemones and feed heavy. no problems at all with a 8" dsb.

Looks better than my xenia forest

Whatigot 10-04-2008 06:55 PM

innovative set up....
some nice looking zoas as well.
i actually din't know the tube 'nems weren't phtosynthetic, they look really cool in the dsb.
nice work.

Thank you all for the nice comments. now all i have to do is wait and let everything grow for a couple years. Maybe add some more frogspawn and zoas. i am going to let the gsp cover the back wall and try to get some more types of macro algae for the sump.

Here are 2 of my latest acquisitions. These zoa's where under some pc lights so there a little long right now but are shrinking down some. i love the color on them already and cant wait to see if they brighten up over the next month. i also bought a ball of red macro algae and when i got home found this pom pom crab on the bottom so that was a great deal. got the macro and zoa's and pom pom crab for $40. not a bad deal.

Looking good man! You got some GREAT looking zoa's. Frag? hehe!

Well the tank has been running for over 5 months, so far so good. just picked up a beautiful hammer coral and it is now the center piece of the tank. I bet by summer this whole tank will be a Euphyllia forest and not just a frogspawn forest lol.
