Tailored Aquatics.....Can you tell I like the product???
http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c2...DSC_0001-1.jpg
I use many of Tailored Aquatic products.......have to say the most amazing one is his Nitrate Destroyer...I had, in excess of 100ppm (or the very very very darkest pink on the chart) and my tank is an SPS tank! All corals were fine except not very colorful and the growth was not great. I used the product per the instructions....had noticed an increase in color...growth etc but forgot to measure my Nitrates. Towards the end of the schedule I tested and was in the 10-25 area but was not done the full treatment.......I just tested and for the first time in any tank I have ZERO....!!!!!!!!!!! ZERO! So I measured again...and it really is ZERO! I have no nitrates detectable. I feed very heavily and have 3 tangs......so this stuff works....!HUGE thumbs up~ |
post of pic of your tank. i would like to see it. A FTS would be awesome
|
Does anyone know where you can get their product in the Kelowna/Vernon area? Thanks.
|
Hey Ron.....contact Brad (Tailored Aquatics).....I'm not sure if anyone out there does stock it...I know OA does and will ship. Brad has a really good line of products...I use many of them... and so far the Aiptasia one works too! (Amazing)

Thanks I will.

Hey, a question about the Aiptasia product. Noticed that you have to mix the powder. Do you do all at once and let it sit between periods that you need it? Or just mix enough to do the treatment you need at the time? Seems to me it must lose potency or viability if not used for some time, otherwise it would be sold as a liquid and not a powder... Or so you'd think.
I just started the Nitrate destroyer last week. Not all my tanks need it but some do. I had been using Reef-resh for a while and was happy with the results until it started getting insanely hard to replace. Anyhow it's nice to hear that everyone who's tried it is happy with it, and it's cheaper to boot. Sarah your tank looks great. |
Yeah..that would be the only drawback to the Aiptasia product...you mix it and have to use it quickly.....it says for only 30 days after powder is mixed. But I will see...if I had been thinking I would have measured out what I had...mixed it in a smaller volume and stored the rest...but I wanted to KILL them now...not wait...I don't wait well!
Thanks Tony for the compliment....it is looking good! |
Sarah your tank looks terrfiic!
What is that right behind the Banggai in the center of the photo? Hard to see what it is. |
It's a Monti cap...came free with my LR many moons ago....have a big huge one at the top of the tank that was not supposed to be there...I keep cutting it off and putting it in the sump...until I got my new lights it was just a chocolate brown cap with blue polyps...now it is a purple with blue polyps...it's kind of pretty now, makes me feel bad about how much I chopped off....I acutally scrapped all of it off once.....when I had the Monti eating Nudi's and several months later...it sprouted back!

I think I'll try some of the Aiptasia remover next time I put in an order to O/A. Lemon juice isn't doing the trick. |

Your tank looks great and Im glad to hear that you were happy with the Nitrate Destroyer. Here is a link to my site with a list of dealers http://www.tailoredaquatics.com/index.html?a=0&d=67 -Brad |

The Aiptasia Destroyer has a shelf life about 30 days after mixed which gives you a 30 day window to rid your system of aiptasia. If the product is mixed and over 30 days old it will still work but you wont have quite the same punch as it does when first mixed. Thanks for the question, Brad |
Can I use the Nitrate Destroyer with ZEOvit, Zeolite Media?
|
Sarah
is your tank 24" front to rear? seems like you have alot of available realestate on your sandbed for zoos, clams etc. My tank is so full of rock i barely have any room. |

Hey Brad,
I am just start using Tailored Aquatics Calcium Plus, dKH Plus and Magnesium for few days. My nitrate is around 20-25. Should I wait for a bit before I decide to use Nitrate Destroyer? |
Glad to hear your giving them a try, I know you will be happy with the results. Monitor your levels (ca, mg, dkh) closely for the first little while as the products are very concentrated so as not to overdose. As for the Nitrate Destroyer, if you have nitrates and/or phosphates, theres no time like the present to start bringing them down and getting them under control. After they are low, dosing with the Calcium Plus and dKH Plus may be enough, depending on your bio-load, to keep your tank nutrient poor.

I will go get the Nitrate Destroyer. Thanks!
|
Hey Sarah, what other supplements are you dosing at the moment?
|
Well I use;
Tailored Aquatics Nitrate Destroyer, Potassium, and sometimes Reef dKH, Magnesium Zeovit (but I am sporadic with my Zeo stuff....never daily unless it's a good week) Coral Vitalizer Stylo-Pocci Glow Marine Snow |
And you have a CA reactor, how about Kalk, or ozone?
|
Oh yah, forgot about that....that's all I have .... the CA reactor and that's the end of it!
I use Seachem salt too and am happy enough with it.... |
Thanks, I was just curious about other products with the Tailored Aquatics.

Sarah, I took your word for it and ordered some Aiptasia Destroyer from Wendel. Tried it on several majanos in the QT. One application and they were gone, totally wiped out. This is great stuff. Now I'm going to try it on 2 large aiptasia in the display. Thanks for the info. |
