New Oceanic Corals aquaculture facility under construction in the Fraser Valley!

Some changes in the works......

I am proud to announce that I have recently been given the opportunity to deal with some very knowledgeable and connected people in the industry who have ready access to all kinds of SPS, LPS, Fish, Inverts, and frags to the local market as well as the capability to ship across the country. I have decided to sponsor Canreef and will be up and running soon as "Oceaniccorals". I will still be keeping "Oceanic" for my personal posts etc.

Registration has recently been completed and and I just need to complete a couple more steps before opening for business; the website is also under construction and may take a few shapes and forms until we settle on something. The plan is to provide the most exotic, colorful, and hard to find Corals and fish available in western Canada. If everything goes as planned, livestock should be available by the middle of October. This will be the last post regarding "business" for me as Oceanic. All further sponsor posts will be under Oceaniccorals. Thanks for all of those that have bought frags from me as Oceanic, I look forward to still dealing with you in the near future.

Below are the pictures of the new Aquaculture facility. There's about 2200 Gallons of water including the SPS, LPS, Fish, Invert, and quarantine tanks. So far it's about 80% complete. There still needs to be a few more fixes (installing all of the coral lighting, plumbing, and LPS tank as well as a few odds and ends), but I am anticipating completion over the next few weeks.

Thanks and enjoy!

The new facility is located in the Aldergrove Langley area. I will not be doing sales directly out of this location. The majority of the sales will be through the website. All local purchases will be available for pick up at my residence or delivered to a meeting location within the Langley Aldergrove area. these details have yet to be solidified.

fkshiu 09-20-2008 11:32 PM

Awesome. Been waiting for a high-end coral distributor on the coast for a bit now.

Oceanic 09-20-2008 11:35 PM

It is nice to see some excitement building. I am sure I will be doing Clams and Carpets at some point. I am also planning on doing a fair amount of actual Coral farming as well, I want to help make this hobby/passion long term and sustainable. I will be using the most up to date aqua culturing and livestock handling practices and will be treating all of the livestock with the upmost care and respect.

The goal is to aquaculture the most favorable Corals coming in with the hopes of making exciting popular frags available on a regular basis from healthy home grown specimens.

Oceanic Corals will also be using the newest procedures for limiting pests in its systems and yours.

Thanks for the words of encouragement so far! :biggrin

The site will updated on a daily basis. There is also a program on the drawing board for frequent patrons that rewards referrals. Though plans are still in the brainstorming stages, you can expect that the site will be image-rich and many of the sales to be conducted on a WYSIWYG basis.

EDIT: I can't say much more at this point, but I wanted to point out that the frequent buyer's program will be amongst the most exciting aspects of the business model. You do NOT want to miss out on this :D

EDIT: I have to apologize, as the term "partners" is a bit misleading. I have managed, through several months of constant negotiations, a few business arrangements that allow me "piggyback" off of orders brought into the country via tranship. My suppliers (I have worked hard at securing the interest of several) have chosen to remain silent through this arrangement and I have chosen to respect their wishes.

Often times, my suppliers will have access to some very high-end/pricey livestock that none of their stores want to risk an investment in. That's where I step in.

The final aspect of my business arrangement is that I am renting a space on a friend's property for the location of the facility. I guess many of you already figured that out; this place is definitely not in my basement. Not much to say there other than cheap rent is good and so is a continued happy relationship with the "boss" :D

Hope that clears things up.

I didn't think it would be long until you found this thread! As you can see by the pictures, we have LOTS of room for fish, the whole left hand side bank is fish only tanks! I know fish is your thing, we will be stocking all kinds.

The facility is in between Langley and Aldergrove. Like I mentioned earlier, It is not likely that we will be doing direct sales out of this location. Local customers will have multiple options for picking up orders.

Delphinus 09-22-2008 03:39 AM

Neato. Good luck with the venture. :)

A little update for those that are following the progress;

Plumbing on the new facility is scheduled to be completed this week, the facility should be going full swing sometime the week of October 15 (next week). I have inventory cherry picked and ready to ship as soon as I have everything ready! Clams should also be arriving within the next 1-2 weeks.

I finally have time to post some more pictures of the new facility, I have attached some pics that were taken in the last 3 weeks of construction. The facility is now ready!

I have livestock scheduled to arrive middle of this week. I will try to post more pictures of the facility when I have time. I hope you like what you see!

One does need sunglasses when stepping into the building! It also gets very warm and humid, if I didn't have the exhaust controlled by a humidistat the humidity would probably be over 80%. Good ventilation in mind was an important factor in the design of the facility.
