ro mishaps

Have you ever woken up abruptly at 4:00 am to remember that you left the frigin RO unit running. Not a good feeling. That what happend this morning. I woke out of a dead sleep rembering that it was still running. Rushed down the stairs cursing and swearing in the dark. Water all over the laundry room floor and below in my Basement suite. Thank goodness no one is living it in. Have the restoration company coming this morning to clean it up. Needless to say the husband not to happy with me today.

I flood my basement on a regular basis.

We too used to frequently wash our floors with RO/DI. Then we got float switches, no more RO/DI floods!

It's not SUPPOSED to go on the floor?? Hmm.

I have mine hooked up in the bathroom, my RO jug sits in the tub. I've forgotten about it too many times to do it any other way

Hehe, this is what I do also, except in my kitchen sink. I fill 5g jugs with it, so they sit in the sink until I get to them.

Ours came from Rona, I think it cost about $12. It got mounted on the inside of a 55l garbage bin in our storage room.

Mine sits in the laundry tub, the problem arises when I switch jugs over and forget to put the new jug in the sink

I made sure my line wasn't long enough to reach anywhere but the sink.

What do you have the float switch hooked to...power or the auto shutoff valve?

michika 08-10-2008 06:46 PM

Its hooked up directly to the RO/DI. Its a humidifyer float valve. No pumps needed.

When I built my house four years ago, a floor drain in the fish room was a given! It has paid off more than once I must say.

Our holding/top off tanks are in the garage. We have a lawn sprinkler timer "0-120mins" or "on" hooked up to the ro system, it works very well unlesss you turn it to "on" and forget.
